The cause of their hatred lay in their own evil hearts. But on the other hand, what have sinners done to mem jusmienuuu before God: Again the answer is: Nothing whatever. They have broken His commandments every day, lying, stealing and committ- inc hundreds of other sins. Yet in love God gave His Son to die for thorn on Calvary "that He might be iust and (at the same time) the Justifier of him that be- lieveth in Jesus" (Rom. 3:26). He loves and justifies believers "with; out a cause," i. e., without any cause in them. The cause is to be found in His own compassionate heart, for "GOD IS LOVE." Thus those who trust in Christ, who died for our sins, are justi fied without a cause, by God's grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, "GOD COMMEND ETH HIS LOVE TOWARD US IN THAT WHILE WE WERE YET STW NERS CHRIST DIED (Rom 5:8). The little church is plain, but full of significance. The commu nion rail was once the prisoners' bar; anid the pulpit, the judges bench. The window over the com munion table was taken from the prisoners' waiting room. The top of the communion table itself was once part of the court clerk's writ ing desk. On the day the church was op ened, a lovely thing happened. The afternoon sun was low; and as the preacher was addressing the company, it shone through the cross in the window, laying the form of a cross upon the commu nion table. AH present saw it. The preacher stopped and, after a telling silence, exclaimed: "From law to grace!"
