Dean Brinra and family, who have been at Jacksonville, Kin., for the past two yean where he was stationed with the Navy. He is being trans ferred this month overseas and his family will stay here for a while. The whole family jrroup enjoyed a picnic dinner Sunday at the home of Dr. and Mrs. WeWon Chandler in Weaverville. Dr. I. N. Carr, of Jefferson nity, Tenn., was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. 0. M. Jarvis last Friday night while en route to Greenville, S. C., for a week-end visit there to his son, Dr. Wilbur Carr, and family. Mrs. Clotu Lippard and Mrs. M. H. Terrell left last Thursday for a few weeks visit to Mrs. Terrell's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Schmidt, in Miami, Fla. While there Mrs. Lippard will al- M visit the parents of her daugh ter-in-law, Col. and Mrs. Junes Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Harris vis ited in Hendersonville last Satur day night and Sunday. Mrs. J. W. Huff visited her mother and sister in Greenville, 8. C, last week-end. Dr. Luther Jarvis of Gastonia visited his parents here last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Griffin and daughters, of Columbia, S. C. were visitors here also last week end. Mr. Julian Douglas enjoyed a week-end retreat at his mountain top estate, "Miriniicki" at Cash iers, where he had as a week-end guest Mr. Joe Morgan. While there they visited suoh places of interest in Jackson, Macon and Transylvania counties as Sapphire, Hrevard, Highlands, Lake Toxa way and Bridal Veil Falls. Misses Anna Hines and Frances Garner visited waterfalls and points of interest near Brevard and Highlands as well as friends en route during the week-end. Harlon Sams, 77, Pastes Sunday; Ritas Tuesday Harlon Sams, 77, of Marshall RFD 4. died Sunday eveninjr, May U, 1988 in a Greeneville, Tenn. hospital after a long illness. Services were held at 2:30 p. m., Tuesday in the Middle Laurel Church of God. The Rev. Archie Thomas officiated. Burial was in the Same Cemetery. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lattie Shelton of Marshall RFD 3. Mrs. Clayton Corn and Mrs. Mettie Cantrell, both of Johnson City, Tenn.; one son, Ar nold of Marshall RFD 3; four sis ters. Mrs. Sylvis Shelton of Mid way. Tenn., Mrs. Ella Hensley of Marshall RFD 4, Mrs. Delta Tweed of Mosheim, Tenn., and Mrs. Ef- fie Gwynn of Greeneville, Tenn.; three brothers, Collis Sams of Weaverville, RFD 3, Lattie Sams of Richmond, Vs., and Bill Sams of Indianapolis, Ind., and seven grandchildren.
