Several people attended the fu neral of Mrs. Cora Pinkerton, who passed away Friday at bar home. Burial was at Roar-in Fork. A RECITAL by David Lynch, Sunday, Sept. 8, on Mars Hill College's $100,000 pipe organ opened the college's 1963-64 cultural events series. The pub lic was invited. Lynch, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Lynch, are members of the college administrative staff, is well known in Western North Carolina music circles. During six summers of his high school and college career he served as organist and choir direct or at All Souls Episcopal Church in Biltmore. He was valedictorian of the 1958 class at Mars Hill High School. Mrs. Richard Sherer visited Mrs. C. R. Whitson Sunday after noon. Johnny Payne and James Shet ley of High Point spent the week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Payne and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shetley. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gardin and Elaine had dinner Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Gardin. Mrs. Lucy Parker visited Mr. and Mrs. Will Parker Monday. Mrs. Rochelle Parker is visiting her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Parker and daughter, of Indiana. i Pictured shove is Randy Smith, 19-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene B. The high school sophomore class elected officers this week, naming the following: President, Lonnie Padgett; vice president, Lynda Whitson; secretary, Dennis Ram sey; treasurer, Arlene Rathbone; reporter, Sandra Allen. The freshman class elected of ficers as follows: President, Gary Gentry; vice president, Sandra Roberts; secretary, Roy R. Park er; treasurer, Tommy Huff; re porter, Sharon Baker. Mrs. Tom Morford of Atlanta, Ga., and daughter, Willa, were ov ernight guests of the Rev. and Mrs. Earl Konkle.
