Farmers Are Urged To
Comply With Acreage Notices
WW
One of the responsibilities of
each farm operator in regards to
the production adjustment pro-
ASCS 1s to take the desired action
relative to his notice of determin-
Ralph Ramsey, county ASCS of
fice manager, said that for an op
erator of a tobacco farm the re
sponsibility includes the filing of
any acreage that was planted in
excess of the farm allotment or
for the timely filing of an appli
cation for remeasurement in cases
where he feels an error was made
in the initial measurement. The
provisions of the hurley tobacco
program allow an excess produc
er 10 days from the date of his
acreage notice to make applica
tion for either of these services.
Ramsey further explained that pro
visions governing' the program do
permit an operator to file a late
application to dispose of his ex
cess tobacco acreage, but that his
late application causes him to lose
price support eligibility on the to
bacco.
As for acreage notice relative
to the 1964 feed grain diversion
program, Ramsey said operators
receiving notices of deficiencies in
their designated diverted acreage
or notices on which the planted
acreage exceeds permitted acre
age, hare 15 days from the date of
the notice to make application fr
the desired action on their case.
In conclusion he urged each
farm operator to be on the lookout
for his notice of determined acre
ages of the various programs and
to take the necessary action with
in the limits so as not to be pen
alized in any way.
