(Psalm 84: 5-6 RV) In any dreadful moment of my life, when struggling with some tribvflation or suffering, I aiak myself, "Why does God allow this to disturb my work? Am I not one of His loved ones? Did not He appoint me to be one of His workers?" The psalmist answers, "Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. -. Passing through the valley of Weeping they make it a place of springs." In mis sense, Christ. went forth successfully to meet the demands of the cross. He. passed through the valley of weeping, and He made it a well for mankind in his pilgrimage. There we drink the water of life. In the world we have tribulation; but Christ has told us to be of good cheer, for He has overcome the - woruu. But there is forgive ness with Thee. . (Pea. 130:3, 4). It hi doubtful whether the Psalm ist understood the basis upon which a just God, through the awes, has so spaciously forgiven sins, but this has since been ex plained in the epistles of Paul. There we read: "GOD FOR CHRIST'S SAKE hath forgiven von" (Boh. 4:321. But this is only part of the truth, for God forgives sinners, not merely because Christ desires this, but because Christ PAID for their sons and PUR CHASED their redemption. Thus Eph. 1:7 declares: "In (Christ) we have redemption, through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, ac cording to the riches of His grace." And thus Paul could proclaim to his hearers in the synagogue at Pisidian Antioch: "Be it known unto you, there fore, men and brethren, that through this Main is preached un to you the forgiveness of sins: "And by Him all that beleive are (justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses" (Acts 13:38,39) Obviously such forgiveness can never be rescinded, for it is bastd upon the full and complete pay ment of our whole debt of sin by "the precious blood of Christ." Sad to say, many people do not feel they need forgiveness, for they have not seen themselves as they truly are in the sight of a holy God, but those who ARE con scious of their sin and are willing to say with the prodigal son: "I have sinned," may experience the wonderful joy of sins forgiven by faith in Christ who paid sin's penalty for us.
