C. Legisla ture in Raleigh, elected last fall to represent Madison County. She is not entirely unfamiliar with the way the legislature operates for her hus band, the late Robert R. Ramsey serv ed two terms, the last in 1953. Mrs. Ramsey is a woman of fine business ability. Born in Kentucky, Frances Crafton was graduated from Peabody College in 1922 and came to Madison County in 1922 as a home demonstration agent. After Mr. Ram sey's death in 1957 she supervised their huge farm and dairy business and operated a store. Five yers of hard work later, she decided io re tire and travel. She has visited many parts of the world' from Europe to Asia, spent a winter in Australia, had a long visit in Mexico and traveled to almost every state in the Union. In Walnut she lives in the same rambling house she and her husband built in 1950. She returns there ev ery weekend to be with her family and to teach Sunday School Class in Walnut Methodist Church. She ia leader of Girl Scout Troop 106 in Walnut, and these girls follow with interest her present activities. Through the years her community service has included every kind of organization that stands for better ment of a rural section. Frances became a real mountain eer and loves to hike, go fishing in cool mountain strealms, farming and gardening. But best of all, she loves just talking with people. Her hob bies include knifing, reading, and playing bridge, but she has little time for aqy of these now, so demanding is her schedule. Social affairs for legislators take up many evenings. She was one of the first to arrive when the body opened the 1965 session and is one of the most faithful, being in place at every meeting, trying to be a good representative.
