will he bald in Moore Auditorium
at eight o'clock.
The concert, scheduled in the
college's spacious main auditori
um, will bring back the popular
pianists who have performed
her several times in recent years.
Harry Meal and his wife Alliaon,
a former child musical prodigy in
Australia, have received more na
tional mairasine attention than any
other two-piano team In the world.
An unusual aspect of the tour
ing musicians is a custom-made
bus in whioh they travel. In ad
dition to transporting two perfectly-matched
Baldwin concert grand
pianos, the vehicle has living ac
commodations for the Neals and
their three children.
Fine Program
On Saturday the following
events are scheduled:
A regional youth fitness con
ference called by Gov. Dan Moore
beginning at 0:30 a. m.;
The college's annual May Day
celebration at 8 p. m., in the am
phitheater; The youth fitness confersnos
will attract high school students
and others interested in youth
physical fitness efforts throughout
the western half of the state.. It
will be under the direction of Ed
Wyant, coordinator of the gover
nor's state-wide youth fitness pro
gram.

Gets Read
Digest Award

of the graduating class st Hot
Springs High School, has been
given the Annual Award of The
Reader's Digest Association for
students who by their successful
school work give promise of at
taining leadership in the commu
nity, it was announced today by
Roy Reeves, principal.
Miss Holt will receive an honor
ary subscription to The Reader's
Digest for one year and a person
al certificate from the Editors, "in
recognition of past accomplish
ment and in anticipation of un
usual achievement to come."
The Reader's Digest Association
is presenting these awards in se
nior high schools throughout the
United States and Canada to the
highest honor student of the grad
uating class.
The award to Miss Holt, who is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Man-
ley Holt, Rt. 3, Hot Springs, was
made possible through Mr. Reeves
and his teaching staff. The se
lected Miss Holt to receive the
award, designel to stimulate schol
arship, citizenship, and continued
contact with good reading after
graduation.

Jerry Freeman Is
Awarded $4,400
Fellowship
Jerry Freeman, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Freeman, 63643 Dry-
den, Utica, Michigan, has been
awared a $4,400 National Defense
Foreign Language Fellowship fur
the 1965-66 academic year. He
will use the grant to continue
graduate study in Russian Lin
guistics at the University of Mich
igan. Jerry is a graduate of the War
ren Woods elementary system and
Warren High School (1960). He
received his B.A. in June, 1964,
and is presently enrolled in Wayne
State University.

Conference game played here on
Tuesday.
Buddy Ramsey, the loser, and
Ron Baker, the winner, both
pitched outstanding ball, striking
out nine and 13 respectively.

Program, the sale of I). S. Sav
ings Bonds in North Carolina (lur
ing the first quarter of this year
exceeded 25 percent of the state's
annual quota of $63,100,000. Cum
ulative sales of Series E and H
Bonds for the first quarter
amounted to $13,441,108.
During the month of March Se
ries E Bonds in the state showed
an increase of 1.2 percent over
March a year ago while Series H
Bonds showed a decline of over
61 percent. The combined sales
of E and H Bonds for the month
were off 4.6 percent from March
of last year.
Sales in Madson County for
the first quarter amounted to $31,
831. This is 18.2 percent of the
county's annual quota of $175,230.

Farm operators within Madison
County who have not as yet util
ized the help svailable to them on
farm practices designed to retard
or prevent soil erosion, have an
opportunity to yet do so, accord
ing to Emory Robinson, chairman
of Madison County Agricultural
and Stabilization Committee.
The chairman stated cost-sharing
through the county ACP is
yet available to farm operators
who haven't enrolled in this vol
ontary program if a farm need
exists. He said the recommended
spring seeding date for establish
ing a vegetative cover of grass
es andor legumes endB on May
1 but that other practices such as
the use of lime or fertliier to im
prove presently established vege
tative covers or tile drainage
could be performed during the en
tire year when weather conditions
are favorable.
In conclusion, Robinson urged
operators who have soil conser
vation problems which can be met
by utilisation of the ACP to con
tact the ASCS office in Marshall
for the details of the program, if
they have not already done so
and are interested.
