Currently in Norfolk, Vs., af tar s yard overhaul sod the refueling of her eight nuclear reactors, Ea tarprise is bock loading food stuffs, ordnance material and other supplies preparatory to re suming operations with unite of the Atlantic Fleet. In October, Enterprise will be transferred to the Pacific Fleet and will operate out of Alameda, Calif. (AHTNC) Pvt. Elmore T. Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ge ter E. Rolierts, Marshall, complet ed an armor track vehicle me chanic course at the Army Annor ( enter, Fort Knox, Ky., July 20. During the seven-week course Roberts received instruction in in wheeled and tracked vehicles. The 10-year-old soldier sntwsd the Army in January IMS and eseapteted basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C. Roberts is a IMS graduate of Marshall High School. ' U. S. Amy, Europe (AHTNC) Amy Pfc William S. Reeves, whose wife, Wands, tree on Bt 1, Box 191, Marshall, participated In a two-day combat surveillance exercise In Germany, July 9-7. Reeves and other members of his unit formed eight-man patrols land blocked infilitration of aimu latad enemy aggressors. When enemy soldiers wars captured, in formation was gathered on major terrain features and transporta tion networks. A member of Company A, 2nd Battalion of the 3rd Armored Di vision's 48th Infantry near Geln bausen, Germany, Reeves enter ed the Army in December J964 and received basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C. He arrived over sea last February. The 2H-year-old soldier attend ed Leicester High School and was employed by Bell Distributing Company, Asheville. before enter ing the Army. sasssssssssssMSSmfin) - ' Ballard Infant Dies Saturday; Graveside Rites Held Sunday Lark Derrick Ballard, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Ballard of Mara Hill Rt 8, died Saturday morning, July 24, 1966 in an Ashe ville hospital following a long ill ness. Surviving In addition to the par ents are the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Von Blade and Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Ballard of Man Hill Rt. 3. Graveside rites were conducted at 0 a. m.. Mount Pleasant Homecoming And Decoration Sunday The annual homecoming and decoration service of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church on Upper Spring Creek, will be this Sunday, August I. The stock split, effective at the close of business Friday, will pro vide one additional share for each presently issued share. Certifi cates representing the additional shares will be mailed August 10 to stockholders of record at the close of business July 28. The split will not require surrender of present stock certificates, which should be retained by stockhold ers. Over 88 per cent of the textile company's outstanding stock was voted st the special meeting of Stockholders, approving sn amend ment to Burlington's Certificate tof Incorporation to increase the amount of authorized common stock and to effect the stock split. Burlington Industries will have approximately 24,700,000 common shares outstanding after the split is effective. The company has more than HO ,000 stockholders.
