The September meeting of the
Walnut-Hopewell 4-H Club
held Monday, Sept. 6 at 7:80 p
m., in the Walnut school.
The pledge of allegiance was
(riven by Gary Payne; the 4-H
pledge was given by David Alien
The meeting was presided over by
Charlotte Shape. The club partici
pated in several games of recrea
tion.
The next meeting will be held
October 4 in the Walnut school at

Dies In Florida;
Funeral Held Here
James Kenneth Payne, 43, of
Miami, Fla., died Wednesday,
August 25, 1965 in a hospital there
after a long illness.
Mr. Payne was a former resi
dent of Madison County and had
lived in Miami for the past several
years. He was a son 01 tne laie
Henry Ambrose and Mary Alice
Hunter Payne and attended Mar
shall schools.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs.
R. V. Graham of Burlington, Mrs.
'John R. Stillwell of High Point
and Mrs. Tommie Goforth of
Asheville; two brothers, Alton of
Marshall and Hugh Payne of Mary.
