U" 4-H Camp By JAT NBALY HOWARDS Mara Hill 4-H Club To me 4-H camp is on of the most wonderful activities of the 4-H clubs of North Carolina. I have been to both of the camps sated in the wis tain dtotrict, Camp Schaub and Swannanoa for sis year. I have r staffed each year a week'a enjoyment and had lots of fun ss well as learned by doing. There are so many different things to do at 4-H camp, such as the classes each day la swim dag, recreation, handicraft, wild Ufa and electricity. Although the classes remain the aame each year, different dances, games, etc, are learned in recreation each year and wa make a different artict in handicraft as well as study anoth er area in wildlife and electricity. I enioysd each of each year. I like handicraft best and last year I won the handicraft award. Awards are presented at the end of the week In all of the classes and other activities to the 4 H er who baa improved (he moat, such aa in swimming or who has contributed the most to the class or activity. -7 fi - jff'i ! fLT1' ! Seeing the results of accem- phahing the goals they have set for themselves ami sharing St pride they have when the goats rs reached ia the moat encouraging part of being a 4-H leader. Sometimes it is discouraging when we meet with a let of thing that are sure to come up, but then when we know a quitter never wins and this makes ua atrive and be a greater help to nU boys and girls who ars our leaders of to morrow. Sometimes n only nje a leader to show the members they cars and want to help them to bring out the beet ia them. They will strive hairier and maybe make a good Junior Leader. Work ing together is the reel meaning of our 4-H dub. With the help and guidance of our Extension Agents, the cooperation of the par ents and help from Junior Lead ers, we've been able to plant ia the lives of the 4-H members to be good losers as well as happy winners. We believe that the 4-H clubs in our different communi ties give as a chance to "Make the Best Better." Through the 4- H work, the members learn to do things that otherwise they would not have a chance to do such as growing their own tobacco, corn, tomatoes, or gardens, raising pigs, chickens, calves or horses or sew ing their own outfits or canning or freezing or maybe juat going to camp for a week and learning to work and piay with our 4-H members. A typical 4-H meeting is Aid once a month and is carried but Galled to order by the club ; intent . Devotions Qmm Roll call and mi mites of ;he last meeting Fledges to the Flag of the Unit ed States and our 4-H Flag. A demonstration is given each month by someone in the communi ty on a project some of the bers are carrying. Then we hare refreshments by our sponsoring committee and dismiss by prayer.
