TO 10c FKK COPY 4-H Talent Show Huge Success; Winners Announced The Madison County 4-H Talent Show was held Friday night, April 2, at the Mars Hill College Auditorium. More than 400 people were in at tendance and enjoyed 40 different acts presented by ' : i Iku IN if COUNTRY BOUTIQUE A hundred people or more crowded onto the campus of Mars Hill College for the opening of the Country Boutique, a crafts store sponsored by Madison County Crafts, a non-profit organization of county residents. The store had net sales of over $300 for its first week of operation. After a 10-day break for Easter, the store will reopen Wednesday, April 14. The Country Boutique reported net sales of over $300 during its first week of $60,000 Allotment For Improvement Of County Road RALEIGH Madison County has been allocated more than $60,000 for one secondary road construction project, it was announced today. Approval of the projects was voted at the regular April meeting of the State Highway Commission here. The project and the money allotted: SR No. 1378; length, 0.90: Grade, drain and stabalize from SR 1370 to DE; $60,000. The store deals exclusively in handmade mountain crafts and is a project of Madison County Crafts, a non-profit organization of county residents. The crafts group held a formal organizational meeting March 24 in the Marshall offices of the Op portunity Corporation. Jack Willis, of Mars Hill College, was elected chairman of board of directors; Mrs. Mamie Gardner of Spring Creek, vice chairman; and Mrs. Ruth Woody of Meadow Fork, secretary -treasurer. Public hearings showing the design of the roads had been slated for early this year but will probably be held this summer, probably in June or July, they were informed. Corridor public hearings, showing the general route, were hld in 1970. The new regulation, which went into effect on Feb. 1 of this year, requires a study of the environmental impact of a project before a public hearing can be held, if the federal government is to participate in the financing.
