Madison Library 10c PER COPY Annual REA Meet To Be Held On Island Saturday Gwyn B. Price, of Raleigh, chairman of the North Carolina Rural Electrification Authority, will deliver the principal address at the an nual meeting of the French Broad Electric Membership Corporation to be held in the Marshall School gymnasium this Saturday. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and the business session will get underway at 1 p.m. Reports of the officers and directors and the election of four directors of the cooperative will feature the session. In connection with the election of four directors, the following members have been nominated for directors by the Committee on Nominations Burley Growers To Discuss Poundage Quota Here Tuesday A county-wide meeting of burley producers will be held in the Courthouse at Marshall on Tuesday, April 27, at 2 p.m. for the purpose of explaining the provisions of the new poundage quota program and the issues involved in the referendum according to announcement today by Ralph Ramsey, County ASCS executive director. Ramsey said that H. 0. Carter, ASCS State executive director, will be the principal speaker at this meeting and that others from the tobacco division of the state office will Reid Resigns John Reid, of Marshall, resigned his position as Program Developer with the Madison-Buncombe Rural JOHN REID County appointed by the Board of Directors of the cooperative pursuant to the by-laws: Madison County, M. J. Ball; Buncombe County, 0. II. Tilson; Yancey County, Paul Higgins and C. L. Proffitt. Entertainment will be furnished by the Skylanders Quartet of Asheville and the Meyers Quartet of Mars Hill. Valuable prizes will be given away including a radio, electric dryer, electric irons, electric fans, electric saucepans, electric drill, electric toasters and other prizes The Marshall Parent Teacher Association will serve dinner on the island, it was announced be present to explain how individual farm quotas were established, as well as the details of the lease and transfer and the under and over marketing provisions. Rural Council Development Council at the conclusion of the regular monthly meeting of the Rural Council last Thursday night at the REA Building here. He has served in this capacity since last July. His duties included ad ministering a housing program, the Green Eagle Rural Transportation System and an incentive grant program in Madison and rural Buncombe counties. He plans to enlist in the U. S. Army on the 28th of April. Huey, how ever, did not resume his duties in the auditor's office until Monday. Metcalf told this newspaper that he was hopeful that the dispute is practically over and Lynne Baker Runner-Up In UNC-G Competition Miss Lynne Elizabeth Baker of Marshall has been named runner-up in District 11 for a coveted Katharine Smith Reynolds Scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is the dasughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Baker of Rt. 4, Marshall. A student at Marshall High School, Miss Baker has served as editor of her school's yearbook and president of the county's 4-H Club. She has also been president of the Glee Club and a Head-start volunteer.
