Tonight (Thursday) Mr. and Mrs. Robert Melvin will en tertain with a dinner at 7 p.m. in their home on Bailey Street in honor of the bridal couple. A rehearsal dinner for the wedding party will be given Friday at Bailey's Cafeteria by bridegroom-elect's parents, Cmdr. (Ret.) and Mrs. Erville F. Chandler. On Saturday, a luncheon will be given in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bruce for the wedding party, the families and the out-of-town guests. Following the wedding, a reception will be given in the Fellowship Hall of the church by the bride-to-be's parents, Dr. and Mrs. William A. Whitson of Mars Hill. Buckner Named Vice President A. M. Society Ted Buckner, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Ray Buckner of the Big Pine community and grandson of C. J. Wild of Marshall, has been elected vice president of the Richmond, Va., chapter of the Administrative Management Society. A.M.S. has 158 chapters in North American cities for the purpose of improving business manager's skills and ef fectiveness. The society con ducts a program of continuing management education and has recently established a program to certify managers who meet the established professional standards and pass a cer tification examination. Mr. Buckner visited his parents during the Memorial Day weekend while returning to Richmond from Houstin, Tex. where he attended the 52nd Annual A.M.S. International Conference. He is ad ministrative manager of the law firm of Hunton, Williams, Gay, Powell and Gibson, comprising 70 lawyers in Rich mond, and a lecturer in tne Business School of Virginia Commonwealth University. GINGER FRAZIER Ginger Frazier Graduates With Top Honors Mrs. Ginger Wallin Frazier received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy at the graduation exercise at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Sunday, May 30. Mrs. Frazier is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe D. Wallin of Black Mountain and formerly of Madison County, and is married to James H. Frazier, also of Black Mountain. While at the University Mrs. Frazier's activities included N. C. Pharmaceutical Association , American Pharmaceutical Association, Student to Student Drug Abuse Education Research Com mittee, president of '69 Pledge Class of Kappa Epsilon, Sweetheart of Phi Delta Chi Fraternity, undergraduate assistant to Dr. Jack Weir in Pharmacognosy, member of 1969 Miss Yack Court, and a Dean's List student graduating in the top bracket of the 1971 graduating class. Mrs. Frazier has accepted a position with Eckerd's, Inc., and will be working in Durham. Her husband, Jim, is presently employed with Eckerd's of Durham. Personals Miss Billie Jean Haynie and her sister, Mrs. Penny H. Greene, are spending this week in Wayne, Mich, where they are visiting relatives. Mrs. Homer Sams and Mrs. Hugh Fisher have returned to their homes in Marshall after spending several days in New York City with Mrs. Sams' son, Lynn Sams. On their way home, they stopped in Richmond, Va. where they spent a week with Mrs. Sams' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. Clayton Wallin, and their two children; and then visited friends of Mrs. Fisher's in Raleigh for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Rankin Rice of Rt. 1, Marshall spent the weekend of May 22 at Myrtle Beach, S. C. Walnut News Mrs. Esther Cummings of Chattanooga, Term, spent a few days last week with her sister and niece, Mrs. C. H. McClure and Miss Louise McClure. On Sunday they visited another sister, Miss Hazel Lieb, who lives in Black Mountain. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Guthrie of Orlando, Fla. spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Guthrie and visited other relatives In Asheville. Mrs. Cecil McDevitt, who has been in an Asheville Hospital and at Brentwood for about 10 weeks, returned to her home last week. Mrs. Norman Pearson and four children from Albany, Ga. have moved into the home of Bob McClure whers Mrs. Pearson's parents, Mr .and Mrs. Chester Thomas, are also living.
