You and your pet

Traveling With Your Dog
Wondering about taking
your pet along on a vacation
trip? If this ih the dog's first
long trip, he should be used
to riding in the car, well
housebroken for the motels
en route, and in good health
A car-sick, unhappy dog
would make the trip misera
ble for both of you. Better to
board him with friends who
love him or with a clean,
well-run boarding kennel
Ket's say your dog, like
most, meets the travel test
and you decide to take him.
Good ! As a member of t he
family, he deserves to share
the fun. All you have to do
is include him in the advance
planning and you will all
have a good time.
Most motelshotels have pet
facilities or allow you to keep
the animal with you But
some do not. To avoid frus
tration, make arrangements
before you get to your day's
destination. To make this
easy, the American Automo
bile Association has a nice
booklet about it. Visit or write
your local AAA and request
one. Also, be prepared to post
a $10 deposit for your pet's
good manners in the case of
a reluctant innkeeper.
If you're planning a stay In
a state park, check in ad
vance for their rule on pets.
Unfortunately, many do not
allow them.
Some Health Tips
For Canadian travel, make
sure yuur pet's rabies vac
cination is up to date; that's
a must. Further, most states
require some type of healt h
certificate. So, if your trip
will cross state lines, better
Check your veterinarian.
By United Press International
Start every day the cleanest
way you can. Take a bath or
shower. Use plenty of soap
suds. Remove the drip pan from
the cooking range periodically
and wash it. Between
washings, keep it clean by
wiping with well-lathered cloth
or sponge.
When shampooing car
peting, place foil or waxed
paper under legs of furniture
that cannot be taken from the
room. This will prevent rust
marks.
Spot-clean pastel and white
leather belts with thick suds.
Work quickly, using a sponge
or small brush. Rinse-wipe
with S clean, damp cloth and
then, with a dry cloth.
Teach children to brush
their teeth after every meal.
Before repainting steel
casement window frames,
wash them.
If your complexion is oily,
soap and rinse twice every time
you wash your face. Then pat
with witch hazel to tighten up
any large pores.
Make way for the edible
bottle. It's for soft drinks,
reports Hairy Research
Digest. The bottles are made
from a cellulose-based protein
similar to that used in making
artificial cream. The bottles
are being filled by an
American soft drink
manufacturer. This raises a
question: After you eat the
bottle, what do you use for a
chaser?
Getting the kitchen
organized for action isn't
always easy but it pays off to
concentrate on convenience.
