OSTIE WALDROUP Mrs. Bemlce Waldroup, 70, of Rt. 1 Hot Springs, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 1973 in an Asheville hospital after a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Surviving are the husband Ostie Waldroup; three sons, Carl and Paul Waldroup of Hot Springs and Billie Waldroup of High Point; four daughters, Mrs. Larry Davis, Mrs. Stella Mae Collins and Mrs. Inez Shetley of Hot Springs and Mrs. Velma Shetley of High er, William E. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Baptist Church. The Revs. Lloyd Ponder and Sam Austin officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Massey, Carroll Stamey, Dean Silvers, Leo WiUett, Roy G. and Rickey D. Roberts, Rickey Waldroup, and Warren Rhinehart. Bowman-Duckett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. HERSHEL COFFEY Hershel Coffey, 58, of Rt. 1 Mars Hill, died Wednesday Nov. 28, 1973 at his home after a long illness. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Beatrice Ballard Coffey; a son, Preston Coffey of th home; the mother, Mrs. Minnie Buckner Coffey of Mars Hill; a brother, Edwin Coffey of Rocky Mount; and three sisters, Mrs. Lena Jo Cody of Weaverville, Mrs. Mary Etta Clark of Mars Hill and Mrs. Betty Jean Rice of Orlando, Fla. Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mars Hill Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. Richard Price and Dr. Hoyt Blackwell officiated. Burial was in Mars Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harley Jolley, Roy Yates Ammons, Gordon Randolph, Bruce Phillips, Harold and Arthur Wood. Capps Funeral Home was in charge. A native of Madison County and a son of the late Wesley and Sophia Head Ballard, Mr Ballard had heen in the dairy business for 43 years A resident of Buncombe County for 70 years and a member of Victory Baptist Church, tie tiad served as a deacon and song leader in several Bun combe County churches anil had taught Sunday School for many years Surviving are his wife. She was supervisor of the operating room at Erlanger Hospital In Chat tanooga, Tenn., from 1916 until her retirement in 1962.
