Holshouser, appearing on statewide television, asked motorists to cooperate, on a completely voluntary basis, in a system in which cars with license tags ending in an odd number will get gasoline on Monday, Wednesday and Friday only. Cars with license plates ending in an even number would get gasoline on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only.
