Hill College Continuing
Education Summer Program
will take place on June 3 from
10 a.m. to noon in the College
Union. A full schedule of night
and day classes are available.

for the four-year bac
calaureate degree in allied
health, general business
administration, elementary
education, religion and social
work in the four-year history

STEPHEN EDWARD HUFF
of Mars Hill received his J.D.
degree from the Wake Forest
University School of Law at
the commencement exercises
just concluded. Huff was a
Morehead Scholar and a Phi
Beta Kappa graduate of the
University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill in 1972. He is the
son of Joseph B. Huff of Mars
Hill and Helen H. Ruff of
Asheville and is married to the
former Patti Coates of Mars
Hill. Huff plans to make his
home in Mars Hill and will
practice law with his father in
Marshall after July.

Navy Engineman Joel A.
Smith, son of Mr and Mrs
Ned Smith Jr. of Mars Hill,
has reported for duty aboard
the amphibious transport dock
USS Vancouver, homeported
in San Diego
A 1976 graduate of Madison
High School, he joined the
Navy in July 1976
Airman First Class
Margaret D. Toon, daughter
of Mr and Mrs Thomas W
Tweed of Route 2, Marshall,
has been named Outstanding
Airman of the Month in her
unit at Francis E Warren,
Wyo
A law enforcement
specialist, Airman Toon was
selected for professional skill,
duty performance and
exemplary conduct. She is
assigned to the 90th Security
Police Squadron, a part of the
Strategic Air Command.
The airman graduates from
high school in 1975. Her
husband, Dennis, is the son of
Mr and Mrs Ward Toon of
1452 Locust Lake, Road.

Marine Pvt. Ricky W
Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Roy W. Brown of Route 1, Hot
Springs, has completed
recruit training at the Marine
Corps Recruit Depot, Parris
Island, S C.
During the nine-week
training cycle, he learned the
basics of battlefield survival
He was introduced to the
typical daily routine that he
will experience during his
"?iHstment and studied the
personal and professional
standards traditionally
exhibited by Marines.
He participated in an active
physical conditioning
program and gained
proficiency in a variety of
military skills, including first
aid, rifle marksmanship and
close order drill Teamwork
and self-discipline were
emphasized throughout the
training cycle
He joined the Marine Corps
in November 1977.
