Miss Nan Ramsey, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy
Ramsey of the Beech Glen
community, Mars Hill and a
junior at Madison High
School, was chosen by the
students to represent Madison
High as "Miss VICA" for 1979.
Nan attended the district
VICA convention held in
Cullowhee recently.
Winners were chosen for at
tractiveness, poise, personali
ty, leadership, citizenship and
prepared speech. She placed
second in overall competition
in the Western District. She
was presented a medal and
represented Madison High
School at the state VICA con
vention in Wilmington.
Mrs. Anders
Honored
On Birthday
Mrs. John Anders was
honored on her 86th birthday
Sunday with a dinner at her
home in Marshall. After the
luncheon, Mrs. Anders opened
many useful gifts.

Marshall Scouts Investiture Held
The Brownie Girl Scout .
Troop 07* of Marshal) was
presented Brownie Scout and
World Association pins
Friday at an investiture
ceremony at the Marshall
Presbyterian Church. The
Brownies were pinnad by the
Brownie Scout leader, Peggy
Norton, and the assistant
leader, Mary Tone
The flag ceremony followed
the presentation of pins and
the troop members Rhonda
Baker, Beth Franklin. Sudean
Norton, Stephanie Samara,
Jennifer Bos well, Melanie
Rice. Marie Wise. Dana Ogle.
Cherlon Lunsford. Michelle
Ulton. Carla James, Jacelyn
Taylor sang scout songs
under the direction of Mrs.
Sheila Rice.
Candle lighting with a
recitation of each Brownie
Scout law was the highlight of
the program enjoyed by a
number of parents, relatives
and friends Rossana Thomas
was usable to attend the
investiture and will be pinned
at a later date.

Alexander Baptist Church Plans Sine
There will be a gospel
singing this Sunday night at
the Alexander Baptist Church
beginning at 7.
Groups expected to take
part will be the South Turkey
Quartet. Alexander Youth
Choir, Parris Quartet, and
others.
