Candler, died March 10 in an AaheviUe hospital after a short illness A native of Madison County and a resident of Buncombe County for ao yean, he retired from American Enka in IMS with 31 years of service. He was a son of the late Henry P. and Rebecca Jane Coates Arr ington. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Towe Arrington; nine daughters, Ruth Penley of Asheville, Irene Riddle, Dorothy Banks and Ellen McElrath of Swannanoa, Lucille Clark, Wilma Roach and Virginia O'Dette of Candler and Mildred Rogers and Katberine Erlandson of Rockford, HI. ; three sons, Fred H. and Leroy H. Arr ington of Candler and Claude J. Arrington of Rockford; two sisters, Vera Reese and Ora Capps of Candler; a brother, Bryson C. Arrington of Leicester; 30 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Services were held at 3 p.m. March 22 in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, of which he was a member and member of the Mens' Bible Class. The Rev. Bobby Winebarger and the Rev. Lloyd Roberts of ficiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Anders Rice Funeral Home was in charge. Robert Myers Robert A. Myers, 97, of Route 1, Alexander, died March 24 in a Greenville, S.C., nursing home after a brief il lness. A native of Greene County, Tenn., and a resident of Madison County most of his life, he was a son of the late Michael and Ellen W. Myers. Surviving are two daughters, Irene Astalosh of Tallahasee, Fla., and Alice Morris of Hampstead, Md.; four sons, Dewey Myers of Portsmouth, Va., Willard Myers of New Bern, Richard Myers of Skyland and Thad deus Myers of GroMmlle, S.C.; two sisters, Eva Ed monds of Candler and Geneva paris of Hendersonville, 22 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. March 26 in Oak Ridge Baptist Church, of which he was a member. The Rev Russell Myers, the Rev D.K. Brevard and the Rev. Claude Surrett officiated. Burial was in Flint Hill Cemetery. Grace Funeral Home was in charge. C.C. Watts Connie Clinton Watts, 77, of Route 1, Candler, died March 24 enroute to a Henderson County hospital. A lifelong resident of Bun combe County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Martha Burnette Watts. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in Detroit, Mich., and was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lucy Williams Watts; three sons, Connie Watts Jr. of Hot Spr ings, S.D., Elmer and Earl Watts of Charlotte; 10 grand children and 14 great grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. March 26 in the Chapel-in-the Pines of Jackson Funeral Home, Henderson ville The Rev H.J. Barnwell and the Rev. Floyd Watts officiated. Guy Buckner Guy Willard Buckner, 73, of Route 1, Mars Hill, died March 24 in an Asheville hospital after an extended il A lifelong resident of Madison County, be was a retired shipping clerk for Thomas Howard Grocery Co. Mrs. Justice Lassa Plemmons Justice, 72, of Route S, Candler, died March 19 in Haywood County Hospital following a long il lness. A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of Nathan Plemmons of Candler and the late Letta Ledbetter Plem mons. She was a resident of Candler for 45 years and was the wife of A.W. " Watt Justice, who died in 1964. Surviving are a son, Douglas Justice of McLeansville; and six brothers, Merlin, Bruce and N.T. Plemmons of Candler, Gordon Plemmons of Leicester, Kenneth Plemmons of Hampton, Va., and Alver Plemmons of Detroit, Mich. Services were held at 2 p.m. March 21 in Ridgeway Baptist Church in Candler, of which she was a member. The Rev. James W. Calvin and the Rev. Lee Roy Smith officiated. Mrs. Mathis is survived by her husband, Carmel Lee Mathis of the home; a daughter, Charlene Mathis of the home; her mother, Topsey Arrington Davis of Weaver ville; two brothers, Carroll Davis of Mars Hill and Jerry Davis of Horse Shoe; four sisters, Lavada Roberts of Weaverville, Geneva Massey and Doris Caldwell of Marhall and Gail Cutshall of Newberry, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Laurel Branch Church Sets A Week Of Revival Services The Laurel Branch Baptist Church will enter a week of spring revival beginning March 30 and continuing through April 5. The services will begin each evening at 7:30. The Rev E.S. Morgan, a Madison County native, will be the visiting evangelist. He is a graduate of Mars Hill Col lege and Furman University. He is also a graduate of Southern Baptist Seminary and studied for one year at Harvard Divinity School. Morgan has served as pastor of churches in Baltimore, Md., Indiana and the two Carolinas. He has held revivals in the following states: Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Maryland and the two Carolinas. There will be special singing each evening.
