LOYD LEWIS FRANKLIN ...the former Sharon Henderson Hot Springs Day Care Center Gets Beauty Treatment By Seniors The grounds of the newly opened Hot Springs Day Care Center have recently been given a genuine beauty treat ment by a group of Senior Citizens of that community. The new lawn and grounds were, carefully tilled, fertiliz ed, raked and sowed with grass. A small plot for a garden for the Day Care children was also prepare^Hjy these workers. The grounds were landscaped with dogwood, maple, white pine, rhododendron, holly, moun tain laurel, nandina and other flowering shrubs. Items for the project were donated by members of the group - some as outright gifts and some as memorials. Special mention is due to Floyd Waldrop, Clayton Moore, John Garenflo and -Homer Rath bone for some of the 'muscle work' of this pro ject. This exciting undertaking will surely encourage even the most indifferent among us to contribute something to the current clean-up, fix-up and beautification campaign. For any who choose to visit this site, the grounds are on Highways No. 25&70 just past the entrance to the Hot Spr ings Elementary School. The building also itrfes as the nutrition site- for senior citizens of the Hot Springs area. Sharon Henderson Married To Loyd Lewis Franklin ?oa and Loyd Lewis Franklin ware married at I p.m. April i ? in Belva Baptist Church { The double ring ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Gordon Balk Theferide is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henderson of Laurel. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Franklin, also of Laurel. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. She was attired in a floor-length gown fashione din silk chiffon and chantilly lace. Her mantia veil was fingertip length. She car ried a bouquet of red roses and Mrs. Morgan Honored On Birthday Mrs. Effie Morgan was honored by her children on her 83rd birthday on April 17 at Hospitality Care in Charlotte. Mrs. Morgan's daughters, Mrs. Robert J. Rice, assisted by Mrs. Jack L. Peoples, of Winston-Salem entertained approximately SO friends and staff members in the dining room of the Nursing Home between 6 and 8 p.m. A color scheme of pink and green was used throughout. Mrs. Peoples served punch and buttermints. Mrs. Rice served the cake. Mrs. Marie Hall assisted Mrs. Morgan in opening gifts and cards. Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Fisher visited her mother on Sunday, April 13. Dr. Monroe T. Morgan visited his mother on Sunday, April 20 in honor of her birthday. Those who were unable to attend but called were Coy B. Morgan and Frank W. Morgan of Portland, Tenn. Dr. Joe L. Morgan of Marshall and Mrs. Myrtle Paulson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They were attired in gowns similar to the matron of honor and carried bouquets of white daisies and blue ribbons. Flower girl was Kristy Smith of Candler. Her dress matched the bridesmaids. Ring bearer was Glen Gosnell Jake Franklin, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Billy and Bobby Zimmerman. The brides book was kept by Kathy Franklin, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. The wed ding was directed by Sonnie Gosnell. A reception followed in the church fellowship hall.
