Madison Young Democrats
Plan Christmas Party
The Madison County Young Democrats
will host their annual Christmas party Satur
day Dec. 9 at the Greek Community Center in
Asheville. Entertainment will be provided by
Terry Hunter and the Timberwolf Band. The
party is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. lickets
are available from club members. Prices are
$25 for couples and $15 for singles. Kor more

Mars Hill Christmas Bazaar
The annual Christmas bazaar, sponsored
by the Mars Hill Community Development
Organization and the Friends of the Library,
will be held on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3,
at the town hall.
Residents are urged to participate by bring
ing handmade craft items, baked and canned
goods, jams and jellies for the event, which
provides support for the library and communi
ty development projects. Hours will be 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m.
American Legion To Meet
The members of the American Legion will
meet at the Legion Hall, Thursday, Dec. 1, 7
p.m. All members are urged to attend.
County Commissioners Change
Monthly Meeting Schedule
The Madison County Board of Commis
sioners have announced that regularly
scheduled monthly meetings will be held on
the first Monday of each month in the Madison
County Courthouse beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The next meeting of the board is scheduled
for Dec. 5.

UNC-A Alumni Meet
The University of North Carolina at
Asheville Alumni Association will hold its An
nual Meeting on Thursday, December 1st, at 5
p.m. in the Owen Conference Center on the
UNCA campus.
Hot Springs PTO Meets
The Hot Springs Pit) will hold a special
meeting Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. The school
kindergarten class will present a program in
the school auditorium. All are invited.

Home Extension Service Notes
TOUR OF HOMES
Christmas decorated homes will be shown
during a special tour on Dec. 17. We will plan
to meet at the Marshall By-pass Shopping
Center at 8:30 a.m. for this tour. If you are in
terested in joining, you need to call or come by
the Extension Office. We are working on some
transportation plans and will need to know the
number attending.
F our homes and a community center will
be included in the tour. Plan to join us for a fun
day together.
CHRISTMAS SHARING IDEAS
A Christmas sharing exhibit will be
presented at Marshall Elementary School on
Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Dec. 8 from
10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Decorating, crafts and
food ideas will be shared with everyone. Bring
your entire family and get right into the
Christmas spirit of sharing with us.
Refreshments will be served. Groups are
welcome to the exhibit.

Carolina Power & Light Company announces
that electric service to the Hot Springs Area
will be interrupted from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00
p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 1983, weather
permitting, for the purpose of replacing some
poles in the power line from Marshall that ser
ves Hot Springs. This is necessary to assure
reliable service during the coming winter mon
ths.
