Graveside services were
held Saturday for William A.
Cutshall of Weaverville who
died March 14 at the age of 59.
Services were conducted in
the Ashelawn Gardens of
Memory with the Rev. J.C.
Wilson officiating.
A native of Madison County,
he was a Buncombe County
resident for the past 20 years
He was a member of the
Fellowship Baptist Church
and VFW Post No. 891. Mr.
Cutshall was a veteran of the
U.S. Army in World War II
and a retired member of the
Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his
parents, Paul and Edna King
Cutshall ; two brothers, Walter
R. Cutshall of Niagara Falls,
N.Y.'and James F. Cutshall of
Asheville; two sisters, Aileen
Greene and Edith Wallen of
Asheville, and several nieces
and nephews.

Briggs

Saturday for William Henry
Briggs of Weaverville who
died Thursday at the age of 25
from injuries suffered in a
truck accident Thursday mor
ning.
Services were held in the
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church
with the Rev. E.W. Jenkins of
ficiating. Burial was con
ducted in the Ashelawn
Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Bun
combe County, he was the son
of Maxine Burleson Briggs
and the late John William
Briggs. He was a member of
the Pisgah Forest Baptist
Church and a self-employed
truck driver.
In addition to his mother,
Mr. Briggs is survived by his
stepfather, Jerry Wheeler; his
fiance, Teresa Leadingfox of
Asheville; a sister, Kimberley
Ann Wheeler of Weaverville;
a brother, Jerry Wheeler of
Weaverville; the paternal
grandmother, Bonnie Briggs
of Mars Hill, and the maternal
grandmother, Lucille
Burleson of Asheville.

Friday afternoon for Dorothy
Higgins English of Mars Hill
who died March 13 in her
home at the age of 72.
Services were held in the
. chapel of the Capp6 Funeral
Home in Mars Hill with the
Rev. Bruce K. Lax officiating.
Burial was conducted in the
. Mars Hill Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of
Madison County, she was the

; David and Vean Chandler Hig
; gins and the widow of Jess L.
English who died in IMS. lira.
Higgins was a retired school
teacher and a member of the
California Creek Baptist
Church.
She is survived by three
sons. Hall Lester English of
Raleigh, William David
English of Greensboro and
Phiilip Jack English of
Weaverville; a sister, Euphia
Hawkins of Asheville; three
brothers, Jeter Higgins of
Asheville, Donald Higgins of
Michigan and Ronald Higgins
of Mars Hill; six grand
children and a great
grandchild.

Funeral services were held
Sunday afternoon for Bertie
Edwards Fore of Route 1,
Mars Hill, who died Thursday
at the age of 78.
Services were held in the
Old Bull Creek Baptist
Church, of which she was a
member, with the Revs. E.W.
Jenkins, Clifford Cable and
Charles Stockton officiating.
Burial was conducted in the
church cemetery.
A lifelong resident of
Madison County, she was the
daughter of the late Jim
Henry and Lillie Dewees Ed
wards and the widow of the
late Carlos B. Fore, who died
in 1978.
Mrs. Fore is survived by two
daughters, Shirley Baldwin of
Mars Hill and Lucille Roberts
of Brevard; a son, Howard
Fore of Mars Hill; three
sisters, Gertie Stines and Pan
sy Arrowood of Mars Hill and
Eloise Fox of South Carolina;
a brother, Dillard Edwards of
Mars Hill; 10 grandchildren
and seven great
grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons,

Robert J. Jackson
Funeral services were held
Tuesday for Robert J. Jackson
of Route 2, Mars Hill who died
Saturday at his home at the
age of 66.
Services were held in the
chapel of the Morris Funeral
Home in Ashevilie with the
Rev. Robert McGirt of
ficiating. Burial was con
ducted in the Riverside
Cemetery with full military
graveside rites.
A native of Vona, Colo., Mr.
Jackson had lived in Mars Hill
since January. He had been a
resident of Fairfax, Iowa for
37 years and was a member of
the Carpenters Local Union.
He was a veteran of the U.S.
Army Air Corps in World War
II and a member of the
American Legion.
He is survived by his wife,
Maxine Berry hill Jackson; a
son, Robert J. Jackson, Jr. of
Sulphur, La.; two daughters,
Diana Schommer of Mars Hill
and Marlys Jackson of New
York City; a brother, Francis
Jackson of Winter Park, Fla.;
a sister, Marjorie Wells of
Bushnell, Fla. ; and two grand
sons.

Zeno McDevitt
Word has been received of
the death of Zeno McDevitt, a
former Madison County resi
dent. Mr. McDevitt died Sun
day in a Warren, Mich,
hospital at the age of 54.
A native of Madison County,
he was the son of the late
Pinkney and Alpha Worley
McDevitt. He had lived in
Michigam for the past 30
years where he was employed
as an electrician by the
Chrysler Corp.
Funeral services will be
conducted Wednesday in the
chapel of teh Kaul Funeral
Home in Roseville, Mich. The
Revs. Fred Froman and
Ralph McDevitt will officiate.
Burial will be conducted in
Cadillac Memorial Garden in
Cadillac, Mich.
