Mars Hill Plans Photo Exhibits The photographs of Charles O. Tomlinson, a television, movie, drama, iinH opera scenic and costume designer, are currently on view at Mars Hill College Tomlinaon to an alumnus of Man Hill's Claaa of 1161 After graduation, lie served with the U.S. Army for two years in Korea and Japan. Returning to school after his discharge, he earn ed a bachelor's degree in theatre arts from the University of Miami. He has since continued his studies at UNC C ha pel Hill, New York University, and the University of London. He also taught for three years at the Univer sity of California at Irvine. For the past 30 years, he has designed several hundred produc tions for the stage, scores of televi sion shows, and six movies. Among his televison crdits are four Dom DeLuise specials and eight Dean Martin celebrity roasts for which he designed the sets and selected the clothes. He has also spent five Tomlinson's latest projects include the scenic designs for the ballet "Cinderella," and producing a movie bsed on the life story of Tom Dula. Filming of the movie is expected to begin in Western North Carolina next year. The photographs may be viewed in the Peterson Gallery of Blackweil Hall, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily Monday through Friday. As he has traveled through 49 countries, he has photographed life styles as expressed through nativ^ dress, architecture, and landscapes. These photographs make up a reference file, now numbering well past 4,00, for his designs. The photgraphs at Mars Hill are drawn from this reference file. BEVA MAULER Margaret Smith Photos To Be Shown At MHC AN EXHIBIT OF PHOTOGRAPHS BY MARS HILL'S MARGARET SMITH will be on dispay at the Mars Hill College Library through October. Many of Ms. Smith's subjects are former Madison County natives currently living in an Asheville rest home. BURNETTE 'DOC' GOWAN MICHAEL FLOWERS, RIGHT, PORTRAYS THE WICKED WITCH and Chris Tomberlin will play the part of Dorothy in the musical production of 'The Wizard of Oz', the first major production of the season at Mars Hill College.
