Robert Rogers
Funeral services were held on Fri
day for Robert Rogers of Leicester
who died March 12 in an Asheville
hospital at the age of 72.
Services were held in the chapel of
Groce Funeral home with the Rev.
Enoch Ball, Jr., officiating. Burial
was conducted in the Bell United
Methodist Church Cemetery.
A native of Buncombe County, he
was the son of the late R. Ba scorn be
and Lucy Cole Rogers, and the hus
band of the late Marjorie Hawkins
Rogers. He was a retired construc
tion equipment salesman and a
member of the Bell United Methodist
Church.
He is survived by a daughter,
Karon Lane of Columbia, S.C.; two
sons, R.B. Rogers of Spring, Texas,
and Larry Randolph Rogers of Mar
shall; and seven grandchildren.
The family has requested that any
memorials be made to the American
Heart Association or the American
Cancer Society.
Paul E. Hunsinger
Funeral services were held on
Saturday for Paul Everett Hunsinger
of Asheville who died March 13 in an
Asheville hospital at the age of 59.
Graveside services were held in the
West Chapel Cemetery in Weaver
ville with the Rev. R. Mace
Honeycutt officiating.
A native of Madison County, he was
the son of Stella L. Hunsinger of Nebo
and the late Moody Mark Hunsinger.
A former employee of Southern
Bakeries and three Mountaineers, he
was a veteran of the U.S. Army in
World War II.
In addition to his mother, he is sur
vived by two daughters, Carolyn
Bishop and Deby Lee of Asheville; a
son, Bruce Hunsinger of Asheville;
and a grandchild.
Ernest W. Rice
Funeral services were held last
Thursday for Earnest William Rice of
Marshall, who died last Tuesday in an
Asheville hospital at the age of 55.
Services were held at the Old Bull
Creek Baptist Church, where Rice
was a member. Services were con
ducted by Revs. Clifford Cable and
Buddy Freeman, with burial at
Metcalf-Bruce Cemetery.
A native of Madison County, he was
the son of Clara Shook Rice, of Mar
shall, and the late William Anderson
Rice. He was an employee of Perry
M. Alexander Construction Co. and a
veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his mother; his
wife, Betty Jean Rice; a daughter,
Mrs. Michael Alvee of Jonesville,
S.C.; a son, Larry Rice; a sister, Mrs.
George Payne of Charlotte; two
brothers, Luther and David Rice,
both of Marshall; a grandchild and
two step-grandchildren.

for Laura Mae Collins Hollifield of
Marshall, who died Wednesday in an
Asheville hospital at the age of 78.
Services were held in the chapel of
the Bowman Funeral Home in Mar
shall with the Rev. Bobby Ballard of
ficiating. Burial was conducted in the
Mount Bethel Cemetery.
A native of Madison County, she
was the daughter of the late Alfred
and Etta Sue Moore Collins, and the
widow of E.N. Hollifield. She was a
member of Mount Bethel Free Will
Baptist Church.
She is survived by a brother,
George Collins, and a sister, Clara
Clark, both of Marshall.

day for James Brazil of Marshall,
who died Saturday at the age of 73.

was the daughter of the late D.H. and
Bessie Lusk Culbertson and the
widow of Guy M. Sales, who died in
1985.
She is survived by two sisters,
Georgia Ramsey and Ruth Higdon of
Asheville; three brothers, Neil
Culbertson of Fairview, Paul Culbert
son of Asheville and Bill Culbertson of
Arden.

Ebba Lee Barrett

Saturday for Ebba Lee Barrett of
Weaverville who died March 12 in her
home at the age of 81.
Services were held in the chapel of
the West Funeral Home in Weaver
ville with the Rev. Gary Burnette of
ficiating. Burial was conducted in the
Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
A native of Transylvania County,
she was a daughter of the late Albert
J. and Lanta Galloway Lee and the
widow of D.B. Barrett, who died in
1973.
Mrs. Barrett was the former owner
and operator of the Barrett Handbag
Co.
She is survived by a stepdaughter,
Anita Metcalf of Camden, S.C.; a
stepson, Alva Barrett of Asheville; a
sister, Connie Aiken of Asheville; and
four stepgrandchildren.
Harrison C. Hensley

for Harrison Chever Hensley of
Asheville, who died Wednesday in an
Asheville hospital at the age of 69.

for Martha Wilson Hensley of
Weaverville, who died on March 13 in
an Asheville hospital at the age of 83.

A native of Yancey County, she was
the daughter of the late Joe and Josie

She is survived by two brothers,
Woodrow Wilson, of Weaverville, and
Paul Wilson, of Norfolk, Va.
