Homecoming, Decoration Service Planned At Lower Big Pine Church The annual homecoming and decoration services at the Lower Big Pine Baptist Church will be held Aug. 17 beginning with a 9:30 a.m. service at the Aler Worley Cemetery. A se cond decoration service will be held at the Blden-Henderson Cemetery prior to the 11:30 worship service. The Rev. Frank Plemmons will preach at the worship service. Dinner on the ground will be served, followed by an after noon singing service. The church's pastor, Rev. Danny Little, invites everyone to attend. Anyone wishing to contribute to the cemetery fund should contact Ronald Roberts or Eugene Worley. First Baptist Church Sponsors Softball Tourney The First Baptist Church of Marshall will sponsor an adult softball tournament beginning on Sept. 8. The tournament will be played on Blannerhassett Island in Marshall. A coaches meeting will be held on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. at the church. Entry fee is $50 per team and each team must supply their own Blue Dot balls. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the church's youth program. In structor Lora Scott will conduct an open house on Aug. 19 for the parents of children interested in music. The Kindermusik program is open to four and five-year old children and serves as an introduction to music. At the Tuesday evening open house, Scott will outline the activities and goals of the two-year program. "Pre school children are just the right age to learn about music. I was very ex cited to discover Kindermusik because it fills a real need for struc tured music education for the very young," Mrs. Scott says. The program attempts to make music-making fun. The children sing, dance, act out stories, play a variety of instruments, create their own music and are introduced to a wide variety of music from rock to Bach. The two-year program involves parents, but Scott says that parent need no prior musical training to en courage their children. Classes wil meet one hour each week throughou the school year. She recently received her master's degree in music from Western Carolina University. The open house will be conducted in Moore Auditorium beginning at 7: SO p.m. in Room 144. Public Notice TOWN OF MARS HILL Due to the extreme drought conditions and the reduction in the Town's water storage capacity, the Town of Mars Hill is asking every resident, busi ness, industry, school, etc., to voluntarily conserve in the use of the Town's water supply. The Town requests no lawn and garden watering until further notice, short showers instead of baths, wash dishes once a day instead of twice, wash only full loads of laundry, and any other conservative measures pos sible.
