Preston Church. Burial was in Walnut Methodist Cemetery. A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Senintha Capps Barnett, and wife to the late Amos Stackhouse Reeves. She was a founding member of the Ladies Aid Society. She is survived by five sons, Aubrey Reeves of Marysville, Mich., Harold Reeves of St. Clair, Mich., Dr. James D. Reeves of Asheville, Dr. Joseph M. Reeves of Shelby, and Ken neth Reeves of Port Huron, Mich.; four daughters, Leta Ledford of Asheville, Evoline Baker of Port Huron, Dorothy Cody and Ernestine Plemmons of Walnut; 32 grand children, 59 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great-grandchildren. The family asks that memorials be made to either the building fund of Central United Methodist Church in Shelby, or the Walnut Cemetery Fund. Odessa Dugan Funeral services were held Mon day for Odessa Haas Dugan of Mars Hill, who died last Saturday in an Asheville hospital at the age of 72. Services were conducted at Mars Hill Methodist Church, with the Rev. Frank Reese officiating. Burial was in Mars Hill Cemetery. A native of Hancock County. Miss., she had lived in Mars Hill for the past seven years. A retired schoolteacher, she belonged to St. Andrew's Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband. Herman W. State Motor Club is pro jecting a holiday traffic death toll of 21 persons during the 78-hour Labor Day weekend which begins Friday, August 29 at 6 p.m. and ends Monday, September 1, at midnight. The 1985 Labor Day holiday claim ed 21 lives and, due to the current trend of above average holiday weekend fatalities, the death toll is expected to equal or exceed this number. The leading driver violations con tributing to fatal accidents last year were Speeding and DUI/ Alcohol. "The risk of injury or death to every person who uses the roads is very real," Dr. John G. Frazier III, president of the statewide motor club said. "No one can control all of the factors involved in a traffic collision; however, it is within every driver's power to control his speed, and to eliminate driving after drinking alcoholic beverages," Frazier con tinued. "There is another very simple but effective way of cutting your risk by more than half, and that is to wear your seat belt," he added. According to the National Safety Council and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, seat: belts are a proven life saver.
