Obituaries Minnie C. Harris Minnie Cole Harris, 104, of Pisgah Manor Nursing Center, formerly of 1406 Patton Ave., Asheville, died Fri day. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was the oldest member of Weaverville Presbyterian Church. Her parents were the late J.E. and Mary Katherine Kilpa trick Cole. Surviving are a son, Charles J. Har ris of Asheville; two grandchildren; and, five great-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday in the chapel of West Funeral Home. The Rev. John Warren officiated. Burial was in West Memorial Park. Quinton Wilds Quinton Wilds, 64, of 3706 Cary Street Road, Richmond, Va., died Saturday in a Richmond hospital. He was a native of Madison County. Bowman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. L. Vestal Rice L. Vestal Rice, 72, of Cove Road, Weaverville, day. Services were held in Long's Chapel Baptist Church. ' jfg| R. Earl Sawyer Sr. R. Earl Sawyer Sr., SB, of 8 Blevins Road, Weaverville, died Sunday. Ar rangements were not announced at press time. , most of his life. He was a member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. He was employed at American Enka Co. and was formerly employed at Asheville Dye and Finishing. Surviving are his wife, Margaret sons, Stephen O'Brien Brooks two daughters, Myra of the home and Bernice Can non of Candler; a stepson, Eddie Ramsey of Weaverville; three brothers, Glen Brooks of Spartan burg, S.C., Bud Brooks of Canton and Ralph Brooks of Cleveland, Tenn.; two sister*. Henrietta Gollober of Wellford, S C., and Florence Caldwell of Canton; and, eight grandchildren. Graveside services were held Wednesday in Foreet Lawn Memorial Park. The Revs. Steve Rhinehart and Lamar Palmer officiated. Church News Singing Services To Be Held The Alexander Baptist Church will hold singing services at 7 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Dennis Parris invites everyone to at tend. Gospel Groups To Perform The Arringtbn Branch Baptist Church will hold a singing service Sunday night beginning at 7 p.m. The David Shelton Family and The Layment Quartet will be featured. The Rev. Kenneth Parker invites everyone to attend. Singing To Benefit Fenders The Walnut Baptist Church will hold a special singing Sun day at 2 p.m. for the Fender family at Marshall Elementary School. Everyone is invited to attend. Fish Dinners Planned The Bull Creek Baptist Church will sponsor a fish dinner at the Mars Hill School Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Prices for dinners will be adults $4, children under 12, $2. Rummage Sale Saturday The Jesuit Residence and Andrew Graves Outreach Pro gram Chapel of, the Redeemer Catholic Church in Hot Springs will sponsor a rtimmage sale Saturday form 1 to 5p.m. on the> groundsjof the Jesuit Residence across from Hot Springs Elementary School. Everyone is invited to attend. Revival Continues The First Baptist Church of Marshall will be holding revival services through Sunday at 7 p.m. daily. Dr. Cal Guy, distinguished Southern. Baptist professor, pastor and writer, will preach each night. Singings To Benefit Franklin The Middle Laurel Church of God will hold a benefit singing for Grove Franklin's medical expenses at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Ray Fletcher invites everyone to attend. The Memorial Church of God at Cutshalltown will hold a benefit singing for Franklin Friday beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Winfred Shelton invites everyone to attend. Revival To Be Held The First Baptist Church of Hot Springs will hold revival services beginning Monday night and continuing through Fri day night. Services will begin at 7 p.m. nightly. The Rev. David Mills of Olivet Baptist Church, Sherrills Ford, N.C., will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to attend.
