Commu Wagon Train Trip Set The Marshall wagon train, an annual July 4th trip, will begin June 28 at Del Rio, Tenn. The trip will end on the Island in Marshall on July 3. Sheriff Supporters To Hold Auction The Concerned Citizens Committee will hold an auction to raise funds for the Madison County Sheriff's Department on Saturday at Mars Hill, in a building located beside the Mars Hill Community Center. Roberts Appointed To Courts Commission Gov. Jim Martin reappointed War ren H. Owen of Charlotte and ap pointed Dan Simpson of Morganton and Clyde Roberts of Marshall to the North Carolina Courts Commission The North Carolina Courts Com mission is a permanent legislative committee set up to make studies of the structure and organizations of the Judicial Department and make recommendations to the General Assembly for changes in the depart ment. Simpson, 60, received a law degree from Wake Forest University. He is currently serving his second term as a North Carolina state senator from the 27th district. He previously serv ed three terms in the House of Representatives. Roberts is currently retireed after 20 years in private law practice. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He taught school in Madison County for five years before serving as clerk of the Superior Court for Madison Coun ty. He served as the district attorney of Madison County for 16 years and is the former mayor of Marshall. Roberts was a House representative for Madison County in 1949 and state senator for the 30th district in 1961. UNCA Offers Art Course For High School Juniors A month-long summer art ex perience for rising high school juniors and seniors begins Wednesday at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. The course is titled "Artsperience" and carries three hours of college level credit. The enrichment course emphasizes a broad approach to visual creativity through color and design experiences in painting and drawing. The course meets from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday in Owen Hall studio 233. Course instructor is Richard Weis, a UNCA visiting artist who holds a master of fine arts degree from Indiana University. The cost of the course is $90 for tui tion and fees and approximately $75 for materials. For more information call UNCA's office of special academic programs at 251-6557.
