Obitusriet Dewme Infant AJ r Oder Dew Johnnie C. and Terrie Jones Da will I of 176 Wooten Cove Road, Weaver ville, died Feb. 1? in an Asheville hospital. Surviving, in addition to the parents, are a brother, Jesse Carrol Deweese of the home; the paternal grandparents, Donald and Betty Deweese of Marshall; and, the maternal grandparents, Garfield and Wanda Jones of Asheville. Graveside services were held Fri day in Holcombe Branch Cemetery. Myrtle Tatham Myrtle R. Tatham, 83, of Andrews, died Feb. 16 in a Swain County hospital. A Madison County native, she had lived in Cherokee County for most of her life. She was the wife of John G. Tatham, who died in 1980. Surviving are a son, Vergin M. Tatham of Charlotte; 13 grand children; and, 14 great grandchildren. Services were held Friday in Valley River Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Tom Wat son officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Henry Gentry Henry Clayton Gentry, 77, of Hendersonville, died Feb. 17 in a Hendersonvilie hospital. A Madison County native, he was formerly employed as an electrician at J. P. Stephens and was a member of Shaws Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Violet David Gentry; a daughter, Clara Simmons of Hendersonville; and, a grandchild. Graveside services were held Saturday in Shepherd Memorial Park. The Rev. Earl Barton of ficiated. Paul Peek Paul Edd Peek, 64, of Charlotte, died Feb. 17 at his residence. A Madison County native, he was a son of the late Rev. Anthony Wayne and Rose Hampton Peek. He was a member of Peek's Chapel Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Mars Hill College, American University of Biarritz in France, University of Ten nessee and attended N.C. State University. He formerly taught in the Madison and Buncombe county school systems and retired from West Mecklenburg High School. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Jeanne Peek; a daughter, Rosemary Peek of the home; and, two brothers, William W. Peek of Garner and Clyde Peek of Charlotte. Services were held Saturday in the chapel of McEwen Funeral Home, Charlotte. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church cemetery. Nola Hensley Nola Rice Hensley, 77, of 107 Old Weaverville Road. Woodfin, died Thursday at her residence. A Madison County native, she had lived in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church, the daughter of the late Willard and Texas Tabor Rice and the wife of Furman G. Hensley, who died in 1973. Surviving are a son, Donald W. Hensley of Woodfin; a grandchild; and, a great-grandchild. Services were held Saturday in the chapel of West Funeral Home. The Revs. David Coleman and Worth Emory officiated. Burial was in West Memorial Park. Thomas Ponder Thomas Edwin Ponder, 10, of Route 3 Mars Hill, died Sunday in a Winston Salem hospital. A lifelong resident of Madison Always Remembered ? The Revs. Edward Ehresman and Jake Fender officiated. Burial was in Upper English Cemetery Bertha Gentry Bertha Norton Gentry. H, of Ridge Street, Candler, died Sunday in an Ashevilie health care center A Madison County native, she had lived in Buncombe County for the past 30 years. She was a daughter of the late George and Lizzie Riddle Norton and the wife of John Gentry, who died in 1960 Surviving is a sister, Lou Georgia Ball of Candler. Services were held Tuesday in the chapel of Bowman Funeral Home. The Revs. Lloyd Ponder and Champ Rice officiated. Burial was in Ptsgah View Memorial Park. Glenn Duckett Glenn Floyd Duckett, 75, of Ella bell, Ga., formerly of Hot Spr ings, died Saturday in a Savannah. Ga., hospital. Bowman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Arthur Cook Arthur H. Cook, 69, of Vallejo, Calif., died Feb. 17 in a California hospital. A native of Marshall, be had lived in California since 1M4. He was the former owned of Blanco Radiator Repair and owned Cooks Radiator. Surviving are his wife, Aurora Cook ; three sons, Arthur Jr., Jim and Carl Cook, all of Vallejo; two sisters, Victoria Ward of Marshall and Christina Streveil of Florida; and, eight grandchildren. Services were held Friday at Skyview Funeral Chapel. Burial was at All Souls Catholic Cemetery, Valle jo .
