Smith of Candler; a son, V. Trent
Keith of Thomasviile; and, five

Services were held Sunday in
Weaverville First Presbyterian
Church, of which he was a deacon and
elder. The Revs. Samuel B. McGinn
III and Russell C. Harper officiated.
Burial was in West Memorial Park.
Ruth Worley
Ruth H. Worley, ?3, of 525 Big Pine
Road, Marshall, died Friday at her
home.
She was a lifelong resident of
Madison County and was the
daughter of the late Aisom and Mag
gie Cogdill Worley.
Surviving are two brothers, Lewis
Worley of Marion and Ray Worley of
the home.
Services were held Monday in
North Fork Baptist Church, of which
she was a member. The Revs. Bruce
Buckner, Frank Plemmons and Dan
ny Little officiated. Burial was in the
church cemetery.
Earl Boone
Earl Boone, 82, of 141 Hillside St.,
Asheville.f formerly of Barnard
sville, died Friday in an Asheville
nursing center.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe
County, he was a retired famer and
sawmill worker. He was a son of the
late Lewis and Mary Elizabeth Boone
i and husband of the late Pearl Ander
son Hicks Boone.
Surviving are a stepdaughter,
Elizabeth Massey of Barnardsville;
two stepsons, Alonzo Hicks of
Henrietta and Oscar Hicks of Mount
! Holly ; eight step-grandchildren ; and,
\ several step-great-grandchildren.
. Dolphus Grooms
Dolphus D. Grooms, 82, formerly of
Morning Star Road, Canton, died
Saturday in a Haywood County
hospital.
A Madison County native, he was a
son of the lat John and Molly Corell
Grooms. He had lived most of his life
in Haywood County. He was retired
from the Haywood County school
: system and had been the custodian at
Pennsylvania Avenue School in Can
ton for 20 years.
Surviving are his wife, Imogene
Gibson Grooms; a daughter, Martha
King of Canton; a son, Norman
Grooms of Canton; two stepsons,
Bruce Kuykendall of Canton and Car
' roll Kuykendall of Asheville; six
grandchildren; and, eight great
grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Mon
day in Bon-A-Venture Cemetery. The
Rev. Howard Pless officiated.
Rosa Lee Barnett
Rosa Lee Carver Barnett, 65, of
1453 Dillingham Road, Barnardsville,
died Saturday at her home.
An Avery County native, she had
lived in Buncombe County for 40
years. She was the daughter of the
late Dan and Vista Miller Carver.
Surviving are her husband, L.C.
Barnett; a son, Danny Barnett of the
home; three brothers, Fred, Ferd
and Dan Carver Jr., ail of Kentucky ;
three grandchildren; and, three
great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday in the
chapel of West Funeral Home. The
Rev. Roy Metcalf officiated. Burial
was in West Memorial Parte.
Alice Early
Alice Faye Early, 51, of Route I,
Old County Home Road, Ashe vi lie,
died Sunday in an Asheville hospital.
A native of Marshall, she had lived
in Buncombe County for 30 yeras. She
formerly was employed by Wootwor
ths as assistant manager of Harvest
House. She was a daughter of Rachel
Ball McDermott and the late Owen
Vernon Kent Sr.
Surviving, in addition to the
mother, are her husband, Donald Ray
Early; a son, Michael Reed of
Asheville; two sisters, Barbara
Buckner and Ruth Deal of Marshall;
and. a brother, Owen Kent Jr. of Flet
cher; and, her stepfather, Patrick
McDermott.
