Tax Reduction Effective
On Nash and Ajax Cars Now!
February!
Greatest Month in Nash History
and Greatest Ajax Six Month
Swiftly soaring nation-wide Nash sales swept
February although the shortest month of the
year into high position as
the biggest single month of production on
Nash cars, alone, in the entire history of the
company.
And Ajax Six sales racing on ahead pushed
February Ajax business far beyond the big
gest previous month since this brilliant new
Nash'built success was introduced.
And the reason for this record-breaking Nash
Ajax success is just this record-breaking
QUALITY plus record-breaking VALUE.

Mr. F. E.Haynes has .in office in
the bank building where he is doing
a real estate business. Any one either
wanting to buy or sell real estate in
Clyde or vicinity should first consult
Mr. Haynes who is a splendid business
man.
Mr. Marvin Cars well and Miss
Pearl Duckett of Canton were quietly
married last Sunday afternoon at the
heme of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Ford.
Dr. S. B. Medford officiating.
Mr. DeVoe Medford has been grant
ed license by the Conservative Life
Insurance Co., of Richmond, Va., to
write insurance. More people, es
pecially young men, should carry
insurance and should confer with Mr.
Medford before taking out a policy.
Several months ago Clyde organ
ised a fire department by electing K.
G. Brooks as chief. Tweive young
men were selected to serve with hfm
and our fire department has already
rendered very valuable service. A
water wagon, hose and other requis
ites for fighting fire have been bought.
Three weeks ago our good women
served supper in the drugstore for
the purpose of securing funds with
which to enlarge the fire department
building on Depot street. The receipts
of the evening amounted to $35.00.
Next Saturday evening from six to
ten o'clock a very fine supper will bo
served in the Clyde Pharmacy build-i
ing for the same purpose. Not only
every man and woman in the town.
but a number from the community
should attend and assit in this very
important undertaking. At two o'clock
last Thursday night, Dr. Medford's
large coal and wood house caught
fire and was in flames when first
seen. The fire department was soon
present with water wagon and hoso
and in less than ftVe minutes had the
destructive flames extinguished and
thus saved nearby buildings. Clvde'a
citizenship appreciates our water sys-t
tern more now than ever before and
our fire force is indeed a splendid
one.
About three weeks ago Mr. Pre
vost of Hazelwood and Georgo H.
Ward of Waynesville attended a
meeting here of Clyde citizens and
discussed the benefits and workings
of a building and loan association. At
a meeting last Friday evening the
following directors were elected: F.
E. Haynes, DeWitt West, J. M. An
derson, Jno. W. Shook, T. S. Ensley,
Edwin Fincher and Dr. S. B. Medford.
Last Monday evening the directors
met and perfected the organization by
electing DeWitt West, President; J.
M. Anderson, Vice President; T. H.
Haynes, Secretary-Treasurer and
George H. Ward of Waynesville, at
torney. The name adopted for the
association is Clyde Building and
Loan Association. A committee was
appointed to submit for adoption next
Monday evening a constitution and
by-laws and secure a charter from
the State by April 1st when it is
hpped the association will begin to
function. Quite a number have al
ready taken shares and other will
subscribe during the next three weeks
after which more can take shares dur
ing the next six months. This organ
ization is already very strong and
safe and will grow stronger from
time to time. It means more for the
building of Clyde and vicinity than
anything we have hitherto had. .
Rev. J. M. Haynes, 77, occupied the
Baptist pulpit last Sunday at both
the morning and evening service. His '
text Sunday morning was taken from;
Hebrews 13:6 . "The Lord is my j
helper." Prof. R. A. Sentelle, 79, one j
of Haywood Institute's efficient teach-- i
ers, is the only preacher in Haywood I
county older than Mr. Haynes. About
3,500 have been converted under MfTj
Haynes' ministry of 40 years in five
counties and he has baptized more
than 1,000 people, twelve of whom be
came preachers. He has many times
rendered valuable assistance in re
vival meetings conducted by other
denominations and has officiated at
many marriages. It is hoped that he
will yet live many years and con
tinue to be a blessing not only to
his own community, but to othen
communities . here and elesewherc.
When his end shall finally come, hfl
can truthfully say with the Apostle
Paul, "I have fought a good fight, I
have finished my. course; I have kept
the faith: Henceforth there is laid
up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the 'Lord, the righteous judge,
1 shall give me at that day."
