For a Complete Summer Life in Cloudland
At Elevations From 2,500 to 4,000 Feet
Wildacres, at Little Switzerland, N. C, Thomas Dixon's
"long-cherished dream," now comes true a high-mountain
community for physical and mental stimulation, with a def
inite program beginning upon completion of the auditorium.
At the very "roof" of Eastern America, in a sceneland of un
told glory, where earth touches heaven. Truly, this is the Land
of the Sky. Surrounded with lofty peaks and serried ranges,
whose outlines, softened by the dense primeval forest, melt
away into misty tints that blend with the celestial vault. A
place of high inspiration, where one may build a rustic habi
tation, commingle with kindred souls, enjoy to the full the
mountains, woods, lakes and rivers, and yet have all the com
forts of modern community life. Only in these high elevations
is it possible to find the ideal summer climate warm, bright
days and cool nights with the luxury of sleeping under blan
kets. And Wildacres has the only location on the crest of the
Blue Ridge served by through lines of travel, both rail and
highway. Any homesite bought in this limited boundary of
1,000 acres at original prices is an investment that will bring
certain resale profit.
A Long Cherished Dream
The decision by Thomas Dixon, the author, to establish a sum
mer assembly of the Liberal Arts in the mountains of Western
North Carolina, his birthplace, was not an idle whim. It had
long simmered in his mind. He took two automobile trips of

a thousand miles each over the Southern Appalachian ranges
and finally decided on WILDACRES easily accessible by
rail and highway. And, while it is a small tract of land, barely
a thousand acres, it is ideally located but thirty-five minutes
drive from Marion and two hours from Asheville. The land
was bought at reasonable figures and will be sold reasonably
to the builders of small artistic summer homes.
Land Values
Business conditions are sound and active. Our whole country
is growing in wealth and North Carolina now leads the way in
the South. As the supply of land available for ideal home
building is limited, attention must be more and more fixed on
such real estate as an investment for savings a form of prop
erty which holds its value through every economic or political
upheaval. For 40 years values in Western North Carolina
have been steadily rising. With the opening of our great sys
tem of state highways, the big movement is just beginning.
Insurance
The title to each building site will be insured to the purchaser
by The Title Guaranty Insurance Company of Raleigh. Frank
Page, President.
