The road extends from Asheville to Dillsboro along No. 10, to Franklin over No. 285, to the Georgia line over 286, to Cornelia over 15, and to At lanta over 13, the latter being known as the Piedmont Air Line highway. This routs is 32 miles shorter than any other between the metropolis of the mountains and the Gate City of the South. Completion of this connecting link is a real event in the lives of these two cities and of the Southland; it is even bigger to the people of the mountain counties of southwest North Carolina and north Georgia and they are going to celebrate it in ! a fitting style. The date has been i set for September 15. On the morning of that date, the ' North Carolina delegations, repre- scnting the towns from Asheville to ' ITvnnVlin will meet, thp delegations i from Georgia, North Carolina's j guests, at the State line. The Geor gians will be escorted to Franklin, where officials of both states will speak briefly on the achievement that is welding together the people of this section, and upon what it will mean. Speakers will include former Gov ernor Morrison, Frank Page, chair man of the the State Highway Com mission, and J. G. Stikeleather, ninth district highway commissioner, all of North Carolina, and highway otlicin! and leaders of Georgia. Dinner will be served in Franklin, and from here the motorcade will inspect the road to Sylva, where they will be further enteitained. At Waynesville, Canton, and other towns along the route there will be brief stops, and st Ashevilb the chamber of commerce of that city will entertain the members of the motor cade at dinner at Kenilworth Inn.
