BOY IS THROWN FROM WAGON
"Bug" Troutman, eight year oldj
son of Mr. and Mrs. Ivey Troutman
had a painful accident Saturday when
he was thrown from a lumber wagon
and run over. He is recovering .fairly
well.

Greek, and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Knigh
spent the week-end in High Point
and Greensboro visiting relatives.
While in High Point they visited
Mrs. Waddell's mother, Mrs. M. W.
Jenkins. '
Last Friday nine pupils and the
Principal of the school visited the
home of The Mountaineer. While
there they were shown many things
of interest, especially so since they
are planning t print a small paper
of their own.
Mr. C. E. Smathers of Boone, N
C. spent the past week-end here with
his parents.
Mr. Fay Seay has gone to work in
Norfofk, . Va.
Friends regret to hear of the illness
of Mrs. H. H. Eavenson.
Mrs. Rnoda Arrington has returned
to Lenoir after a visit here with he
daughter, Mrs. Walter Hawkins.
The school children have recentl
constructed a road to the school house.
and made a rock garden on the bank.
Both of these changes have added
much towards beautifying the grounds.
Miss Louie Medford, one of the
teachers, is sick, Miss Dois Thomp
son is substituting for her.
Last Sunday, Mrs. W. A. Hill, Mr.
and Mrs. John Cogdill and son visited
Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Allen of Fines
Creek.
Mr. Jessie Arrington moved here
from Charlotte. He is living on the
Will Trammel place.
Miss Julia Plott, Mrs. John McClure,
and Mrs.Vko. Singleton, all of Hazel
wood, and Mr. Glenn Rhinehart of
Jackson county were Saunook visitors
last Sunday.
Mr. Walter Hawkins spent the past
