The newly elected cnnstian en
deavor officers were entertained Fri
day night at-an installation banquet
held at the Presbyterian Hut. Kev.
0. C. Landrum had charge of the
program. Thr following officers were
installed: President, Miss Gladys
Stump, Vice-Pres., Mr. Rufus Gaddis;
Secretary, Miss Ruth Summerrow and
Treasurer, Mr. Paul Davis. A delight
ful time was enjoyed by all present.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sny
der of Hazelwood on November 20,
a daughter.
Miss Gladys Stump was a Sylva
visitor Saturday. i
Mr. R. A. Johnson died Saturday
night at his home near Hazelwood
following an illness erf several months
pmeral services were conducted
Monday morning at 10 o'clock and
burial was in Buchanan cemetery, Mr
Johnson is survived by his widow and
several children. Rev. M. L. Hooper
attended the funeral.
The Hazelwood Elementary School
will observe the Thanksgiving season
with a program Wednesday afternoon
at school. This program will consist
of musical numbers, poems, essays,
tableaux, and the like. The patrons
are cordiallv invited to attend. The
less fortunate families will be remem-.
bered by the school and churches.

The men of the IVesbyterian church
held their regular monthly meeting
Monday : night at the Presbytjerian
Hut. A very good supper was served.
The business matters of the church
were discussed. Everyone reported a
good time.

BOOSTER CLUB M ET THURSDAY
The Booster club held its regular
monthly meeting Thursday evening at
the town hall. A very interesting
program was carried out. Mayor J.-II.
Howell of Waynesville was the princi
pal speaker. String music was furnish
ed by Mr. Fred Lewis and his string
band. The girls making the highest
average in school in the grades from
the fourth through the seventh werej
guests. They were Dorothy Hamilton,!
Pauline Ray, Helen Rogers, Kerne
Rathbone, Mabel Wyatt and Sara
Welch. The two boys making the
highest average .in all the grades
were also entertained. They were Jim
Lowry Robinson and Jack Richcson.
