Lee were honored Tf in observancn rf 4'- Lee-Jackson Day at the Waynesville Township High School. The program was given by the Haywood Chapter of the United Daughters cf the Con federacy. The exercises started at 10:30 a. m. with Mrs. O. R Martin, Historian of the chapter, in charge of the pro gram. Invocation was given by Supt. B. D. Bunn. Rev. H. W. Baucom was intrdouced by Mrs- Martin and spoke on the Youth and School Days of Lee and Jackson. A quartet composed of Misses Helen and Mildred Medford, Olivejane Green, and Iris Chafin sang, "Praises for Peace," Mr. Bill Prevost played a trumpet solo, "Romance," accompanied by Mr. Paul Fry. As the. closing number on the pro gram Mrs. Will Hyatt. Custodian of Crosses, made a short talk and ore sented the cross of military service to Mr. J. C. Patrick, World War Veteran. '. T. A. COUNCIL TO MEET- TUESDAY The regular meeting of the Par ent-Teachers' Association Council will be held at the Central Elementary School next Tuesday evening, Jan uary " 2G, at 7:30 n. in. The first number in the study course will be taken up at that time. "Learning," from the general topic, "The Seven Cardinal Principles of Education." Mr. Bowles will have a paper on "The Laws of Learning," and Mrs. Bunn, the leader of the study group, will discuss, '!The Three Epochs of Life the pre school a$re, the elementary, ahd the adolescent." Where parents are not able to take care of the cost this will be provided by the P. T. A. It is hoped that all parents will see :hat their children take advantage of this opporunity. Other talks were made by Mrs. Mrs. Felix Stovall, who spoke on, "Developing Responsibility in Chil dren," and Mrs O. .. Thr.'lkeld, whose subject was, -'"The Reversible Why." HAS INTERESTING MEETING Mrs- Sam Strinafleld was hostess to the Dorcas Bell Lore Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revo lution at her home on Walnut street, wneqnesday, January 13. This was the regular monthly meeting1 and in the absence of the Regent, Mrs. Gwyn, (who was unable to be present on account of illness in her family) Mrs. J. H. Howell, the vice regent, presided.
