Brown, who ha just just (Hoovered a large vein of" feld spar on his farm in the Max Patch section brought in another large sam ple to The Mountaineer this week. The samples he brought last week were beginning to show signs of handling by the many citizens of the city. Much interest was manifested on the feldspar article appearing in last week's issue. Many calls and visits were made at this office inquiring further into the new mineral. Cope Receives A Sentence Of 5 To 7 Years Wednesday T"iu Cope of Jackson county, who was found guilty of manslaughter here last week, at the regular term of court, received a sentence of from five to seven years from Judge A M. Stack. Cope was (barged wit li killing a young man by the name of Iiuff, near Balsam. The visitors have a reputation of being one of the hardest teams to defeat in Western North Carolina, Coach Weatherby's cagers are all pepped up for the occasion and a close exciting game is expected. Postmaster, T. L. Green announces the inauguration, effective Feb. 15th, 19,12, of a special .star route mail ser vice " from Waynesville to Asheville daily except Sunday. This mail will leave the Waynesville post office at 5 p. m., stopping at Canton and Enka, reaching Asheville at 6. p. m. This is a one way service, nothing, being handled from Asheville to Waynes ville by this carrier, The advantages of this service are that it will handle the letter mail from 4 rural routes, including also mail from Dell wood, Maggie, Cove Creek, Cataloochee, Nellie and Ola, putting it into Asheville on the same day it is collected; also enabling the banks and business concerns at Waynesville, Canton and Enka to dispatch their mail two and a half hours later than at present. Mail handled by this route will make connection at Ashe ville with train No. 27, and with a star route leaving Asheville for Spart anburg, S. C. about 7 p. m. and con necting there with the Washington Atlanta main line of the Southern.
