The last few weeks have shown1 quite a marked improvement in the condi tion of the Waynesville country club. Quiet a bit of money is being spent getting the course in the very best of shape for the summer season all the greens have been reseeded topdressed and fertilized, and show signs of being in the condition thafc they have ever been. Several vf the tees have been resodded and rebuilt assuring the best tees we have ever had. The iftrst nine holes are now open for play and quite a few golfers are taking advantage of the sunshiny days to get in a few rounds of golf. The membership drive is progressing at a fair rate but we need quiet a few more to reach our goal of a hundred members locally. Your membership will be greatly appreciated. Future Dreams Wouldn't it be nice if at a future date we could hav an open golf tournament held here like the one just completed at Pinehurst, N. C, the North and South open and get as many noted golfers and as much news paper publicity as an event of this kind gets. By Way .Ion E CREEK sell of Panther Creek ISerty Sunday. New Ball ThP new 1932 golf ball which was officially adopted March 1st, is meet ing with a great success according to several sports writers from differ ent parts of the country. Its best qualities seems to be on the putting green where it is reputed to be making its best performances. The difference between it and the old balls is the same weie-ht as the ball used in 1930, same size as the one used in 1931. It is one and sixty eight one hundreds of an inch in diameter and weighs one and sixty two one hundreds of an ounce, being seven one hundreds of an ounce heavier than, last years ball and six one hundreds of an inch larg er than the tne used in 1930. I have received several encouraging letters in the last few days, from some of our past seasons visitor stating that if nothing prevented they would be back with us again this summer. rE OAK is leen very much cele- Wlilte Oak. Their faith was shattered at the cross, Where they had watched 'till eventide, Their hearts were crushed; they knew their loss, When Christ their loving Saviour died. No hope had they, for in the tomb Their dearest hopes now vanished lay; Their thoughts were centered now in one Who'd roll for them the etone away. A wondrous sight now greets their eyes, The stone an earthquake moved away, The empty tomb before them lies, And two men there in bright array, The angels Bpoke, and "whom see Ye?" They asked His anxious friends that day, "He is now here, He's risen, come and see The place His (precious body lay." The women haste with lightened step, To tell the story, one by one, But Mary, dazed and weeping stood, Her sad heart wondering all alone, A form she saw, and, trembling, spoke, "If you have borne Him hence," she said, "Tell me the place." Her heart now broke That one should dare to move the dead. An answer came that filled her soul, In holy joy she saw her Lord, The first to reach his loving heart, The first to hear that sweetest voice. Yes, LOVE had won, that Easter morn, Though pictured not by pen or screen, And millions since, and yet unborn, Will all revere the matchless scene. " ' '' ' .' ' ' - " .. J. M. NEWTON.
