MARRIAGE OF MISS FERGUSON
ANNOUNCED SATURDAY
Of interest to a large circle of
friends in Western North Carolina
was the announcement of the mar
riage of Miss Opal Louise Ferguson
Mr. Robert Francis McLeod which
took place on Sunday, April seven
teenth, at Greenville, South Carolina.
The announcement was made at the
close of a bridge party tendered by
the bride's jnother, Mrs. T. W. Fer
guson, at her home mi Dour iry
.street, last Saturday afternoon. Mrs.
Kenneth Ferguson and Mrs. Felix
Stovall assisted the hostess in receiv
ing her guests.
The bride is the . laughter of Mr
and Mrs. T. W. Fergus )a of this city
and is one of the most popular and
attractive of the younger social set of
Waynesville. She is .i graduate of the
Waynesville high school of the class
of 1!)2!( and was graduated from
Western Carolina Teachers' College
at Cullowhee in the class of 1931. She
is a member of the facilly if Hazel
wood elementary school.

An exceptional report was present
ed by the treasurer, Mrs. R. H. Black
well, showing the work that had been
done during the year, the obligations
discharged and the many activities
along civic lines that have met with
success.
Plans for the 1932 dahlia show
were outlined by Mrs. Frank Fergu
son, chairman of the dahlia show com
mittee. For a number of years the
club has sponsored a dahlia show that
has come to be one of the outstanding
events of its kind in Western North
Carolina. , j
Miss i.ois Harrold was elected dele
gate to the State Federation of Clubs
to be held in Winston-Salem May .5 to
5. Mir. Wnaid G. Rogers was named
alternate. A communication from
Col. J. W. Harrelson, of the state de
partment of conservation and develop
ment regarding the use of "Made in
Carolina Products" was read with ap
proval. The club pledged its support
to Mrs. E. M. Land as a candidate for
second-vice president of the General
Federation.

Standard Training School
To Be Held At Local
Methodist Church Soon
The Haywood County Standard
Trainine- School will be conducted in
the Waynesville Methodist Church,
South beginning May 15. This is for
all Sunday schools, officers, teachers
and workers in Haywood county. It
is conducted by the board of Christian
education of the W. N. C. conference,
whose headquarters are in Greensboro.
It is the desire of the pastors of the
county and of leaders that all Sunday
school superintendents get behind this
movement, that they attend, get their
teachers to attend and as many other
pupils of the various schools as pos
sible. This school is open to all de
nominations and to everybody.
Passion Play To Be Shown
At Bethel School, May 2

Monday, May 2, 7:30 p. m. the
"Passion Play" or "Life of Christ"
will be given in the Bethel High School
auditorium. This is a fine reel Wond
er moving picture production. The
effect and appeal are great. It is the
treat of a life-time to get this picture
into our community. It has been
given over 40" of the 48 states of the
union. It has recently been given in
Canton and Clyde. It will be present
ed at Waynesville and Canton again.
It is a rare treat that all will want
