ERNEST L. WITHERS AND COMPANY INSURANCE-REAL ESTATE PHONE 100 CLASS MOTTO Our motto places as the great cornerstone in manhood building as the initial word of the trio a word which I ask you to think of as meaning "Mentals-Toil.'' Labor commonly im plies a more strenous exertion than work and I want you to think of "Labor" as an intellectual effort ( Men. tal Toil) directed to an end. We have it from reliable authoritv that. 100 children entering the 1st grade only five graduate f mm high school, therefore we know that Labor (or Mental Toil) is not pleasing to the average child. Education comes through Mental Toil. It cannot be in herited, it can't be given to us, all the millions in the world can't "buy it for us. The plans and specifications are .in reach of all children and if thsy started laboring during the formative years of life they would acquire a training that would enable them to "conquer all." I know that our motto does not mean that physical labor was needed for us to reach the senior class, jbut it did demand mental labor, that type of work in which so many refuse ; to engage. There is sufficient power wrapped up in the brain to enable atl Who labor on the battlefields of life to triumph. In every life there are mear.urless potentialities. when mental labor starts the dynamo from which flow resistless currents of power.
