Mr. Justiel srid it was not difficult to raise straw lierries the year 'round provided you "knew your strawberries.' Other apples and their exhibitors were: "Sheep Nose " by It. H. Boone, who also t(K)k first prize with his exhibit of "Grimes Golden." "Black Twigs," nnd "Carmaeks." Lucy Erwin won first place honors with her display of "BuiT" apples. "Delaware Red" honors went to James Kinsland. In the vegetable exhibits the prize results were: Best corn. George Smathers and Weaver Cathey; onions, Mrs. Essie Cogburn, cow beets. Joe Moore; carrots. Ira Mann, who also took first place honors with his eab bage and sweet potato exhibits; fivst turnip honors went to W. A. Moore with R. O. Kelly running a close sec ond. With his vegetable bean and pump kin exhibit, G. W. Justice took first place honors. James Kinsland was awarded first prize with his French sugar beet display. Van Wells took first place honors with his attractive display of 6-month-old pullet eggs and his hen eggs. LIVESTOCK DIVISION In the livestock department. J. D. Kinsland took first place honors with his beef cattle exhibit. H. Arthur Osborne, with his splendid exhibit of Guernsey cattle took first place in this department. It. L. Justice took first place honors with his exhibit of Poland China pigs while Marselle Mann was awarded first place honors in the fowl exhibits. Fred Sloan, of Franklin, county Agent in Macon county- was judge over the men's department and Mrs. Paul Walker, of Waynesville, judged the women's offerings during the day. Fully 800 people heard Dr. Clarence Poe, editor of The Progressive Farm er, of Raleigh, speak at 11 o'clock in the Bethel school auditorium cn "Farming Co-operation." Dr. Poe spoke fr approximately 43 minutes. He was introduced by County Agent James L. Robinson, of Waynesville. Jack Murray, and Earl Byrd composed a party touring through the Great Smoky Mountains Sunday. Leaving Waynesville they motored to the Indian Reservation by way of Soco Gap road. Everyone eame dressed in Hallowe'en costumes and a prize was alwarded to the fun niest dressed girl and to the funniest dressed boy. It was unanimously agreed that Alice Decker was the funniest dressed girl and that Harry Anderson was the funniest dressed boy Contests and games were enjoyed by the group during the evening s en tertainment. The Halloween motif was carried out in decorations and refreshments. MR. AND MRS. LINER ENTER.
