K0, who died at his home in Clyde Tuesday morning at 5 lAIock following a lengthy illness, was laid to rest in the historical I'leasant Hill cemetery at Clyde Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock with his pastor, Rev. R. P. McCrack cn. officiating- For several years the aged and es teemed citizen served on the board of commissioners of Haywood county. In this capacity he endeared himself to all with whom he came in con tact. Up until ill health intervened, he was active in the affairs of his community and was considered one of the outstanding farmers of that sec tion of Western North Carolina. , He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Sophia Jones Haynes and the follow ing children: Mrs. Vance Robinson, Vincent. Thurman, and Roy Haynes, of Clyde, and Mrs. W. L. Bagwell. Mrs- Clifton Burnett, Mrs. Stuart Robinson, and B. M. Haynes, of Spartanburg, S. C- Active pall bearers were six grand son.". Robinson, Ernest 17.20 52.98 12.32 11.86 New Railroad Rate Is In Force On Murphy Branch Of Southern Beginning last Tuesday. the pouthern Railway System made a change in the cost of railroad fares to one and one-half cents per mile, between all points on the Murphy bftineh. Officials of the railroad company announuced thait this was a more or less trial, and if the public adhered to this new rate then perhaps new schedules would be put into effect and probably the new rate would be ex tended to other lines of the system. On advertising matter sent out by the Southern it was shown that to drive an automobile cost3 . anywhere from 6 to 10 cents per mils, while their rate was one and one-half cents per mile.
