Minutes were read and ap proved and eighteen members re sponded to the roll call. Mrs. Jo-K-ph Johnson presided over the reg ular business session. A letter was -ezd from Mrs. Met' all, district direc tor, congratulating the club upon sending the largest per cent of mem bers to the district meeting at Ma rion, and reporting the Waynesville tlub the winner of the subscription to tin national magazine. Miss Nancy Killian. leader of the afternoon's program, discussed the chapter on "Art Songs" from the course of study. The following pro pram was given: Current Kvents, Miss Quinlan. Chorus, "Hark, Hark The Lark," by the club. Vocal Solo, "The Lotus Flower," by Miss Ida Jean Brown accompanied by Mrs. Robert Stretcher. Piano Solo. "Prelude in C," by Mrs. Joe Johnson. Vocal Solo, "Lullaby," by Miss Charlotte Hatcher accompanied by Mrs. Stretcher Piano Sjolo, "Wedding Day at Groedhaugen," by Mrs. Robert Stretcher. The hostess, assisted by her sister, Miss Caroline Alsteatter. served a de licious salad course. MRS. BOONE HONORED OX BIRTHDAY Mrs. Rufus Siler complimented her mother. Mrs. J.K. Boone, last Tues day with a beautifully appointed luncheon. The occasion was in ob xivance of the birthday anniver sary of the honor guest. The guest list included twelve of Mrs. Boone's most intimate friends. Colorful flowers and a blazing log fire made a most inviting setting for the group assembled. The decorations of the luncheon table were significant of the approaching Thanksgiving season accentuating the colors of orange and bronze. During the serv. ing of th" lucheon Mrs. H B. West and Mrs. J. Howell Way gave toasts to the honoree, in which both express the love and affection held for her by ach guest present. For more than a half century Mrs, Boon? and her family have been prominently associated with the re ligious, social and civic Mitciests of the town. On this anniversary cf her birthday she was the recipient of many lovely gifts as well as messages from friends and relatives attesting the high esteem in which she is held. SUPPER CLUB HAS DELIGHT FUL MEETING Members of the Contract Supper Club were charmingly entertained on last Monday evening when Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Bell were hosts at their home on Central avenue. The Thanksgiving idea was car ried out and a delightful supper was served at card tables. After several interesting rubbers of contract Mrs. C. C. White was found to hold high a IovpTv boudoir lamp. Mr. Wilford Ray held high score for the gentlemen and was pre sented an attractive prize. Members of the club present were: Mr. and Mrs- Wilford Ray, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bell, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Mr. Jones is proprietor of The Little Gallery of Woodstock, New York. He is an artist of note and his paint ings, especially those of The Great Smokies, are becoming famous. It has been said that Mr. Jones' paint ings are doing more to advertise the new National Park than did Horace Kephart's writings. It will be remembered that Mr. and Mrs. Jones spent the winter of 1930. 31 here and their many friends and e-lad to welcome them back to Waynesville. Mrs. C. S. Mr. Jim Henry left Sunday for his home in New York City after spend ing a week as the guest of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Henry. Mr Henry went to Greenville, South Car olina from here with Mr.. Fred Henry and Mrs. J. R. Justice and went by plane from Greenville to New York. While in Greelivire Mrs. Justice visited her daughter, Mrs. Sam Duvall. Mr. Jack Phillips, who is a student at Georgia Te -n and an outstanding football player, left Monday to re sume his studies after spending th week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs Decatur Phillips.
