Kvidently the synagogue doors were not so hos pitable now or perhaps they wore clos ed against him. Hence he now began his open air ministry just as the great evangelistic pioneers in England and America did when they were not welcome in the churches. The streets of Capurnaum were narrow and had m parks suitable for great gatherings- Hence Jesus entered his own temple in the spacious outdoors with its freedom of speech and intercourse and its more apparent lessons out of life. He therefore withdrew to tho lakeshore for teaching as he with drew later (Marw 6: HI) for confer ence with the Apostles; for commun ion with the Father (Mark (5: 46) for recuperation in the hill country of Tyre and Sidon (Mark 7: 24-31); for transhguration CMark !.': 2); for in struction in Perea (Mark 10: 1) ; and for prayer in Gethsenia:it 'Mark 14: .52). Life Investment iu the Chrlsti.in Ministry. That the Christian ministry offers the most superb apportunity for Mg. nifieant life investment that the world affords was the opiniou expressed by a uistinguisnea uoston tneoiogicui teacher in a magazine article many years ago. He gave what he called seven compelling reasons in answer to the searching inquiry, "Why be a minister?" (1) It makes possible the contribu tion of the supremest values. (2) Of all tasks, the ministry af fords most intimate and perfect con tact with life. (3) The world needs the moral and spiritual contribution of the prophet more than it needs anything else. (4) The ministry is the hardest of all tasks, and the most fascinating, (5) The ministry means the high. est possioie aeveiopment of one s whole nature. (6) The satisfactions of the istry are inexpressible. THE POINT FOR EMPHASIS Life is Better When Christ Controls (1) Learn of Jesus as Teacher "He spake to his disciples."
