I'lott as assistant hostess. .Mrs. Clark Mciiford was in charge of the k'ss,n for the evening. After an interesting' lesson the hos tesses served punch ami cookies. An attendance of -' members was recorded. They were: Mrs. Spaulding L'ndei woud, Mrs. R. Sawyer, Mr. and Mrs. W. I.. McCracken, Mrs. J. L. I 'aimer, Mrs. If. Guests included Miss Iris Chafin, Miss sang a solo, and .Mrs. Wayne Battle. This meeting concluded the series of class meetings which have been held recently. The subject covered by these lessons was "A New Force in Education," one of many instructive books in the I'.T. A. Current Events will Le reviewed by Mrs. James Atkins and the musical pro gram will include a violin selection bv Miss Margaret Stringhold. Hostes-es for this meeting will be Mrs. J. H. Way, Jr.. SUN PA Y SCHOOL CLASS TO HAVE BUSINESS MEETING The Young Women's Sunday School class of the Methodist church will meet at the home of Mrs. M. H. Biwlcs next Tuesday -evening at 7:30 o'clock, with Mrs. Dewey Stovall and Miss Janie iTucker as associate host-es-:es. . This will be a business and social meeting. Mrs. W. T. Spurlock is president of this class which has approximately fi'ty members. Miss Onyx Picklesimer and Mrs. Philip CTine of Lynchburg, Virginia .are spending a few days in town as he guests of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle ipy and Mrs. Zeb Alley MISS EILLIAN HONORED Mis- Ellen Louise Killian, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Killian and a senior at Peace Instiute in Raleigh, l a- the distinction of being voted by her schoolmates as the most versatile . ;,. -h.. eolieire. She was also ! ehor.en by nor classmates to write the class prophecy. Mis- Killian has been an oui st'mling student throughout the tw-o years she hits been at Peace. This year she has keen a member of the student council and recently was elected by the students and faculty to thu Privileged Honor Roll, the most coveted honor bestowed at Peace. .11 RK DICES, JR. CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY Master Mark Dicus. Jr.. son of Mr. and Mrs C. M- Dicus, was most de lightfully honored on last Thursday afternoon when his mother enter tained a number of his little friends in celebration of the seventh anni versary of his birthday. Various games furnished amusement for the children throughout the af ternoon. At the close of the games thev weie invited into the dining room where I ivelv spring flowers were effectively . used in decoration. The white biithday cake with its seven pink candles, held central place on the table and a color cheme of pink and white was carried ou; in detail in the dainty rei'n shments served. Gav was hostess at a ii inning informal affair last Thurs day afternoon when she assembled a group of friends for two tables of contract. Forsythia and jonquils in attractive- arrangement formed a bright setting for the party. After the games Mrs. Robert Stretcher was found to hold high score and received a lovely lace handkerchief.
