A. of . ... central Ele mentary held their routine monthly meeting on Monday night a: the school The president, Mrs. Nobel Garrett, presided. Mrs- Hubert Liner ieharge of the devotional feature "'We program which was concluded with a prayer by Rev. H. W. Baucom. Du'-ing the period devoted to the transaction of business, a motion was made and carried to instruct the secretary to order five copies of the P. T. A. Magazine and also to send at once the state dues- It was an nounced that Mrs. Will Grahl had offered to lend the school a radio for the winter months- Mr. White Mease, Miss Frances Robeson and Mrs. Linwood Grahl were appointed by the president as a committee to complete the arrangements of instal lation of the radio in the school, A decision was also reached regard, ing the necessary silver for the cafe teria, with the result that the P. T. A. will defray the expense up to a cer tain amount. The president announ ced that the January meeting would not be held of the first Monday in the month as school opened on that day and it would be best to delay until the following week. The meeting was at this point turned over to Mrs- J- R. Morgan, who had charge of the program. The sub ject under study was: "Character; Education." Two excellent talks were made by the following: "What the teacher has a right to expect of the parents," by Mrs. J. M. Kellett, "What expect of the community." by Rev ii, V. Baucom." U. HAYWOOD COUNTY' LEAGUE UNION MET IN WAYNESVILLE The Haywood County League Un ion composed of the Epworth Leagues of the Methodist churches of Hay wood county, met in the auditorium of the Methodist church here on Monday night. Mr, Locklan Hyatt, .presi dent, opened the meeting and after a brief business session, the program was given. Rev. Paul Hardin, Jr. introduced Rev. W. A. Rollins, who spoke on "The True Observance of Christmas." which was the keynote of the even ing's program. Miss Mary Barber gave an interesting account of the Passion Play which she attended the past summer. Following adjournment a social hour was enjoyed, with the Waynes ville league, the hosts of the occasion, serving ice cream sandwiches.
