HONORS RECENT BRIDE AND
GROOM A lovely affair was held Friday
evening when Mr. and Mrs. San
Knight entertained a group of friends,
at their home on Bakam .street hon
oring Mr. and Mrs. 1 B. Hooper,
whose marriage took place May 2 at
Wilmont.
The living room and Jininc room
were thrown together and decorated
with bowls of iris. A color suheme
of green and gold was carried out.
Parlor and contest games were enjoy
ed. Pun. h and cake were nerved dur
ing the evening. Mrs. Knight was
assisted in serving: by Mrs, Clyde
Jordan and Miss Katherine Knight.
Each one present wrote a sugges
tion for the newly-weds in a "Mem
ory Book," which w presided over
by Miss Wilma Hoyle. The younr
couple received many beautiful and

The Southern Baptist convention,
with 3.000 delegates for the second
time voted last Thursday against a
proposed survey of social and eco
nomic conditions in the South. The
sort of pmposal was voted down by
the annual convention in Memphis last
year. The report of a special commit
tee headed by Dr. Edwin M. Poteat, of
Raleigh, was tabled.

1 cup sugar.
cup whipping cream.
'a, cup coffee cream.
1 "tablespoon lemon juice. .
Cruh berries and add sugar. Com
bine with lemon, juice,., milk, and
coffee e-eam. Pour into freezing
tray When frozen, remove to bowl
and 'whip with electric or hand beater

CARAMEL CUE-AM
Eight or ten servings.
3 tablespoons granulatd sugar,
1 cup milk.
14 cup powdered sugar.
teaspoon salt.
1 tablespoons flour.
2 eggs.
1 pint coffee cream.
1 teaspoon vanilla.,

Heat the svrup. Make a paste ol
the flour and water. Add hot syrup
to paste, stirring ?on-stanuy. w
for 10 minutes, or , until thickened.
Add to well-beaten egg yolks in doub
le boiler and continue to cook, stirring
constantly until it reaches the con
thin custard. Cool. Add
salt and cream. Pour into freezing
tray. When frozen, remove to bowl;
Add vanilla and whip with an electric
or hand beator until mix becomes light
and creamy. Then carefully fold in
the stiffly beaten egg -whites. Re
turn quickly to freezing tray and al
low to finish freezing.
