The subject under study was Scan dinavian music, with Miss Frances Robeson in charge of the program Miss Robeson read a most interesting paper in which she gave the major characteristics of the music of this country, following which a program illustrating some of the points brought out in the paper was given. Among he numbers given were: "Valse Triste," Sibelius, played by Miss Buchanan, of sylva; "Romance, by Sibelius; piano solo, played by Mrs. Grover Wilkes; a Norwegian Folk Song, "Old Norway," a vocal duet by Mrs. Lawrence Green and Miss Margaret Walker; two violin num bers, "In the Morning" and "Anitra Dance," from "Peer Gynt," by Grieg, played ty Mrs. Kicnard N, Barber, Jr., accompanied by rs. Evander Preston; itw vocal numbers, "The First Primrose," and "I Love Thee," by Grieg, ung by Miss Mildred Craw ford, accompanied by Miss Grace Crocker; "Noctune," from Grieg, by by Mrs. Evander Preston, and two piano selections by Miss Grace Crocker. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Crawford and young daughter, Anne Coman Craw ford, left Tuesday for Fieldale, Va., wnere tney will visit. Mrs. Crawford and young daughter will remain in Fieldale as the guests of the form er's parent, for a month, while Mr. Crawford will ireturn to town in a few days.
