Mountaineers To
Meet Saluda-Tryon
Here Friday P. M.
At the township stadium Friday
afternoon Coach Weatherby will send
his Mountaineers against the Tryon
Saluda eleven determined to win their
third Blue Ridge Conference victory.
Some of the first string are not in
the best condition and have required
much rest during the past two weeks.
However, daily drills have been car
ried out with able reserves in all po
sitions left vacant by ailing regulars.
Coach Weatherby has given the team
new plays as well as stressed all fun
damentals of football.
The Mountaineers defeated Hen
dereonville Bear Cats 25-7 or the
latter's field last Friday.
In the backfield Saunders, Phillips,
Smith and Hill will probably start as
they did in the Mountaineers easy
victory over Hendersonville last
week. Yount, Reeves, Hendricks,
"Red" Phillips, Jack Davis, an 1 John
Reeves will probably eee service in
this game. The line will be led by
Sawyer, Bryson, Galloway, Byid,
Stringfield. and Collins. Able re
serves, such as Mehaffey, Ewing, Han
cock, Chafin, and Davis, will be ready
The Mountaineers and Mars Hill are
considered tops in the Blue Ridge
Conference, and the local lads are anx
ious for a clean slate when they meet
the latter team nex weeK. The "7
Club" will again give a play-by-play
account of the contest. Coach Weath
erby and other officials are expecting
one of the season's largest crowds to
watch a great Mountaineer eleven
in action. The locals are rolling
along towards another impressive
record, having only been defeated by
one team during this season.
