Singing Convention To Meet Sun. Dec. 13 The Haywood County Singing Con vention will meet for an all day sing ing at the court house on Sunday, De cember 13th, according to Paul Smith, president of the organization. Several visiting quartets and choirs are expected to attend the convention. AH singers of Haywood county are invited to attend. F. Cabe Leaves For Special Ses sion of Legislature (Continued f rom page one) start January 6, and Governor-lect Clyde R. Hoey will take office January 7. Governor Ehrinhaus said an act conforming with the Federal ruling "has been practically completed and will be ready for presentation on the opening day of the (special) session, and can be quickly and fully consid ered either by special committee or committee of the whole and enacted in time for Christmas adjournment." State officials searched the records for indications of how long the ses sion may be expected to last and whether business besides unemploy ment insurance may be discussed. They found; 1. Legislators will receive $8 a day until the session is 20 days old. Af ter that they will receive no pay. 2. In the five sessions previously called during the 20th century, none lasted longer than 20 days. 3. On only one of the five occasions (1908) was business of equal or great er importance than that for which the session was called. If customary procedure is followed, party caucuses will be held the night before the session to nominate the speaker of the House and the Presi dent pro tern of the Senate. No opposition for the speakership has been announced against Grogg Cherry, veteran House member from Gaston county, and A. M., at the Masonic Temple with the official reception of the distinguished guests by Cyrene and Waynesville Commanderie fol lowed at 7:00 P. M. by an oyster sup per served in the dining room by the ladies ; of the Waynesville Chapter, Eastern Star to which all Masons are invited. At 8:00 P. M. all attending Masons will meet in the lodge room to hear the messages of the two visit ing speakers and at 8:45 P. M. wit ness the special feature of the occa sion the ritualistic ceremonies of the Mystic Feast of the Triangle -conferred for the first time in Haywood county and expected to attract an un usually large attendance.
